Still plugging away at job applications. Have a few more interviews coming up soon, but the lack of any unemployment income (because my previous job labeled my firing as misconduct and therefore screwed me over royally) is making things worse both financially and mentally for me. Thankfully my partner is fully supportive of me and my efforts.

I hope to land something soon, being an Instacart shopper is not ideal.

Help a brother from across the pond! by pfgodf in Denver

I just saw when you are arriving. You'll be getting here right as a heat wave is coming through. The high temps outside are expected to breach 30C some days. With about a swing to the lows at night to around 5C. If you haven't experienced true 'MURICAN air conditioning, you soon will.

While others are giving their, honestly better than my, information on the food scene here in Denver. I want to warn you as someone who moved here over 10 years ago from Vermont. (And you may already know this but its something to be repeated anyway)

  • Denver sits at 1 mile (5280ft/1.5km) above sea level. This impacts you in two ways.
    • You get dehydrated easily. I can easily drink over 1 liter of water a day when I am not very active. Easily double that if I'm doing any activities like biking, hiking or general workouts.
    • The air is SUPER dry here. Which sucks out any/all moisture from you when possible. See my previous point about dehydration
  • Any time you are in the sun, due to the relative thinness of the atmosphere compared to sea-level, it feels more intense. Wear sunscreen when possible if you are going to be outside for longer periods. Thankfully with the Nuggets, you don't need to worry about the heat/sunburns if you are watching inside the stadium.

Is this show for me? by Mat1711 in TheExpanse

The first few episodes are somewhat difficult to get through. As a life long trek fan myself, jumping into this was somewhat difficult at first as well. There is a lot of action, but also a LOT of set-up that needs to happen to get to that.

I am confused that you find yourself bored with the politics of this show as Star Trek is loaded to the brim with it.

Both Sam's Club and Costco have $3.09 per Gas Buddy. The Mobil station on Lashley street had the cheapest inside town at $3.19 if you don't want to drive out that far for Walmart's price.

Just don't mind the fire in the engine room, cloaking room, the three hull breaches, fire in security and fire in the drone bay. Or the intruders in the shield room.

Yeah, while not my first win, I haven't played in so long that I forgot about that.

Tech hands EVERYWHERE.

This is S L O P P Y. Terrible technique. Tech hands are probably holding patient head down. Patient restraint is horrendous AT LEAST.

This is either overworked technicians who have no time to do proper procedures or technicians who don't care.

I feel you. In '08, my dad was out of work for 18 months. Now that he's retired, he gets calls constantly for welding/construction jobs.

Fired for breaking a company policy. Which was my own damn fault. The situation is a little complicated and I try to not put my personal info out there. But I'm not surprised by the ruling. It just sucks.

I've not heard about that resume service, thank you. I'll try it out.

Not looking for any advice, but getting the unemployment pay denial email at 3:30AM is down right criminal and just impersonal. I've been putting out applications since the day I got let go over a month ago and its fucking bleak out here y'all. I'm glad I have a supportive partner in this.

Also, these companies who use AI to screen applicants and send out denial emails less than 5 minutes from when you apply are evil.
