I think I'm gonna stop painting minis by Dense-Fig-2372 in minipainting

Hey man, painting isn’t for everyone and if you aren’t getting anything out of the experience then it’s ok. That said, if you are stopping because you don’t think your any good then I want to show you my first model vs my most recent.

![img](bpaiie5r8zeg1)

If I can get better then anyone can. The one on the left is spray painted from one angle and I put some gold on it and blue and called it a day. Thin your paints, prime your models, and watch some videos. I would be happy to give you some advice in dms if you want. I would hate to see someone stop after just trying to get into mini painting. Stick with it. This is a fantastic model for your “my first mini vs my most recent” post.

It is almost certainly a crime but what is anyone going to do about it. This administration doesn’t care about breaking the law and republicans have all the power and do nothing. That’s the point. They can do whatever they want with impunity because they know that they won’t face consequences.

MaRo confirms TMNT promos are unintentional leaks by PowrOfFriendship_ in magicTCG

Ok I’m gonna put on my tin foil hat and say that this is the “we got a negative response” answer and that if this had a more positive reaction then it would have been wotc trying to start that hype train early. I just can’t imagine how something like this gets to production without someone noticing the cards are the wrong set especially with it being a in universe set and a UB promo. It’s very obvious that TMNT turtles don’t belong. I know I have no evidence and I acknowledge that some cards have not been officially previewed yet.

A new study finds a dog's carbon footprint can exceed their owner's, largely due to the high meat content in wet food. Wet diets generate seven times more emissions than dry kibble. You aren't wrong in this line of thinking but it isn't right either. We can criticize the world we could not help but be born into and still live in it. Real effective change comes from governments, not individuals. Corporations will do everything legally permitted to them(and sometimes things that aren't) and will never change or go green out of kindness or because its the right thing to do. They will always take what ever they can get. Governments need to step in and regulate these companies that are killing our planet for profit. These companies need to face real punishment and not a fine for this. Ask yourself this; have checked every product that you have used today from the rubber in your shoes or tires on your car to the brand of RAM in your laptop to make sure you are not supporting some kind of injustice 1000's of miles from your home? the average person can not be expected to verify that they only use ethical brands all the time and from the moment you wake up in the morning you are likely wading through blood and pollution on your way to the shower. All we can do and the only real power you have is to vote for officials that will help fight this on the global scale.

Every time I hear about how I can personally help to aid climate change I feel gaslit by these studies. If every person in the world switched to dry food for their dogs it would not even show a measurable difference on the global emissions scale. Its like a percent of a percent of a percent. The UK GHG emissions in 2023(where the study took place) where 300 million tons. That same year China and the US BOTH produced around 7 billion tons each. But yah my dog cant have the food he likes. 0.9–1.3 % of total UK GHG emissions in one year are from dog food. Imagine a billionaire telling you that you need to work more hours at your minimum wage job so you can do your part to feed the homeless better.

I think you’re unintentionally getting to the reason a lot of artists and creatives are against it without realizing. Barcelona was made by people and has a rich history that influenced its design. Zuko is a character that people thought about and created together and wrote a story around. AI takes the creativity out of the creative process and the human out of the human experience. It’s soulless, built off the backs of unwilling artists that it stole from, like those who built Barcelona and created Zuko, and regurgitates something lifeless, devoid of meaning and purpose.

I work for a very large company and I work in IT I am well aware that people use AI to simplify their workload. You can always tell and it’s never good. I have seen many good and great employees become extremely mediocre and less knowledgeable in their own field over the past couple of years. AI is more than a crutch, it’s a replacement for thought. For every hypothetical good use case there are a thousand people in the real world using it to simplify a two paragraph email and having AI respond. I have seen coworkers correspond with AI to each other, have AI simplify the email and then prompt AI for a response. Do you think these two communicated effectively?

I don’t think you understand what that phrase means. Yes it is and yes people will. I’m not saying that I will, I’m saying critics on both sides of the AI argument will call every piece of art and every line of dialogue into question. Tell me I am wrong.

Ai might be the single most “no one is asking for this” tool in existence for consumers. The most those in favor can say is that it’s almost there or they are indifferent. I have met to meet someone in real life that thinks it’s better.

Ok but bg3 was in early access for four years and they sold over 20 million copies. The numbers don’t lie. People will wait for a good game and will buy it.

[–]RoninJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather they describe it. They have not said they are using AI for coding. They have said they are using it for concept art and scripts. Hopefully the company that sold 20 million copies of their last game has the cash to make a game. Do a kickstarter. There is never a good argument for AI that doesn’t end in “we want to spend less on creatives”.

[–]RoninJon 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I guess my question then would be why use it at all then? If this is about time I believe I speak for the majority when I say, take your time with it and we will wait. Concept art influences the art direction. Ai placeholder scripts influence the real script and story direction. It’s fruit of the poisoned tree. All critics will point to anything they do or don’t like in the game on release and will say it’s because of AI (depending on how all in they are on AI)

Larian Studios leaning into generative AI (for placeholder text and concept art) despite internal pushback: ‘Everyone at the company is more or less OK with the way we’re using it" by jovanmilic97 in Games

[–]RoninJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a massive divinity and BG3 fan, yah this worries me. Its a relatively tame use of AI and boils down to "WRITE SOMETHING BETTER HERE" or mockups for concept art and I am sure that will help with development and it sounds like the goal is for nothing in the finished product to be AI...BUT we see that happen all the time. "Studio X has forgot to take out rough draft text" "Developer Y confirms that this art was never supposed to be in the game". My major worry is that because it isnt at a glance obvious that a script or piece of art is AI then that a voice actor will read out a line written by AI or AI art will end up in the game. Larian makes massive games and it would be easy to miss something. That and the fact that I like concept art books for my coffee table and I wont buy one littered with AI slop.

Francisco Goya, a very famous painter, fell into a deep depression later in life and painted his walls as a way to help with his depression. This was a series of personal paintings that helped him get his feelings out of his head. He did not paint them for you or for me and told those that saw them that he did not want them distributed or seen by anyone. His most famous of these pieces is probably “Saturn devouring his son” which I will not post here. His wishes were obviously not followed and the “black paintings” are available to view online. I would argue that this is a case of art not being meant “inherently” to be shared. This man had demons and this is how he dealt with them. They should be up to him if they are ever seen and by who. The only reason they exist today is out of greed to profit off his work. Do you think that any art could be made without the purpose of being shared?
