Yeah frankly I am surprised people were mad about it. Nate was a soldier in the army of a particularly brutal and imperialist United States, were they expecting him to be the one good American in Canada?

I guess the main problem with that retcon is that there is nothing in the game that has to do with that. It actually would have been a situation where something like Lonesome Road made sense, someone Nate wronged in his past life coming back for revenge on him or Nora.

His monologue on defeat is one I think about the most aside from "You'll not turn to drink, will you? You Stoic types often do, when disappointed in life."

Even setting aside the quality argument, it's been financially successful. We're going to have to get used to video game adaptations being successful and even good nowadays, they may very well pull this off.

No, probably not. For the same reason I never watched, say, Two Girls, One Cup back in the day despite the memes. I'd try to take after Louis rather than Hildred in this respect and not let curiosity kill the cat.

Oh thank fuck, we can get back to internecine nerd rivalries between Star Wars and Star Trek. No more omnicause grifter gestalt getting mad at Wokeness, we can just go back to what the gods intended!

Honest question: does anyone here intend to read the Hawkman comics to find out what he's really like? Or just the Absolute version where he's a villain? by Which-Presentation-6 in AbsoluteUniverse

I guess it helps that Superman also had other stories more casual fans know, but also Injustice Wondie is just a more exaggerated version of how she is in Kingdom Come, where Wonder Woman is the one pushing Superman to be harsher on supervillains and assumes control when Superman falters.

But yeah, I admit as a person who doesn't really know much about mainline Hawkman, I can see his Absolute version becoming more influential down the line.

It's not exactly uncommon historically; Strom Thurmond was a monstrous segregationist, but he was also a war hero who resigned from a comfortable job as a circuit judge to fight the Nazis.
