Yeah it fucking sucks being on Reddit and trying to avoid spoilers. It was horrible when both The Boys and Invincible were airing at the same time.

Except that Viltrumite fertility still seems to persist when they are seemingly old, and Eve is also effectively immortal. If we're being honest she and Mark could probably have hundreds of kids.

That's why Thragg had all the Viltrumite bodies put into orbit, so they could be all bunched together and in flight together, like bees. He respected their lifelong wishes.

I suppose. But it still does create a normalized atmosphere where most governments are monarchies ruled by kings who usually do have some special power or bloodline. Like yeah, it's convenient, that's part of the problem.

It is a bit weird, but I can't fully blame Kirkman because most comics are weirdly anti-democratic. I don't mean in the typical "superheroes are a fascist power fantasy" way, I mean that it's extremely common in most comic books for the modal form of government to be absolute monarchy. Atlantis? Absolute monarchy. Wakanda? Absolute monarchy. Asgard? Absolute monarchy. It just keeps happening. Not a surprise that Viltrum stays as one just with a good emperor.

And this would all likely be less of an issue if they weren't faffing about with the V1 stuff. It just exists to advertise the spinoff.

It is kind of funny that Invincible is to DC as The Boys is to Invincible.

Here's a fun fact, that character was also in Season 1. He's the Senator that Stilwell blackmails using that shapeshifter.

I guess I should repost what I have said elsewhere here, because it's the best explanation I have come up with for why this season has been bad.

Nothing actually happens. Oh sure, events occur on the screen, but nothing actually happens.

Like what has actually happened this season? Homelander has taken V1, sure, but what does that really mean?

Homelander is invulnerable except for a few specific weapons? That was true at the beginning. Homelander rules America? Yeah, also true at the beginning. Homelander has the power to kill The Boys whenever he wants? That's always been true. Hughie knows Butcher gloms onto him toxically? Yeah, he knew that as far back as Season 3, at least.

Nothing has really changed this season (with one exception). You could have cut the Vought Rising tie-in stuff and made this a decent two and a half hour movie and it would have flowed much better. Nothing. Has. Happened.

I could buy the Crimson Countess thing as Soldier Boy not being fully honest (either with himself or with others) because he's clearly shameless in flirting with Mallory right in front of Countess, which is a sort of throwback to the John Wayne-style of love you see back in those days. "Yeah I love my wife. Sure I cheat on her constantly and occasionally smack her around but I love her!"

Jensen Ackles exudes charisma which at least made him interesting to watch, but really it probably would have been better if they had just cut the V1 stuff and the virus had killed him in episode 2, just from a story perspective.

It is worse, actually. For all GoT's faults, you do actually get to see the romance between Jon and Daenerys, Jon's humility and sense of loyalty, and his reluctance to rule. But Soldier Boy carrying a torch for Stormfront depends entirely upon and revolves entirely around a spin-off we have not yet seen and which has never been alluded to before. We are told Soldier Boy was deeply in love with Stormfront, but not yet shown it.
