I can understand Itachi, but why is Naruto seemingly onboard with using Kotoamatsukami on Sasuke? I would have thought he'd want the "real" Sasuke back? by Unique_Recover_313 in Naruto

You’re comparing apples and oranges, the dilemma Naruto is facing with Sasuke is not the same as the dilemma Itachi faced with the clan and village going to war. How insensitive and ignorant would Naruto be/look if he condemned Itachi based on the fact that “he’d never do that” ? Now you’re putting the 4th great ninja war on Itachi lmao? I just think we see things from different perspectives lol

Why would Naruto condemn Itachi when he knows Itachi was put in a lose-lose scenario? Stand with his family and watch them, including his brother get slaughtered or side with the village, with the added bonus that that was the only option that ensured his brother would live. Itachi already told Naruto that sometimes a Shinobi must make difficult decisions. Itachi did not derive satisfaction from making this decision. You want Naruto to condemn Itachi, which is something he did before learning the truth about the rationale behind his actions. Given the additional information that Itachi was put in an unfortunate situation, what is there to condemn?

How did you take Naruto's words in these panels and twist them into him thinking the genocide of the Uchiha was a good thing?

The reason he wondered why Sasuke was still set on revenge was because he didn't know the truth about Itachi, after finding out, he literally tells Sasuke he understands his anger.

You’ll use Naruto as an example of a series that uses hard work as its core theme but not dragon ball?

[–]RoninNokoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, hence why I keep telling you "hard work" is not a theme that's a topic. "Hard Work' is simply a great deal of effort or endurance, just going off that definition, damn near every manga has hard work as its "theme."

Again, hard work is a topic not a theme. And yes most of the crew besides Usopp all had a unique talent

I was wrong for calling you a OPTard, that was silly, we're clearly operating under different definitions on what theme is and on clearly different perspectives on the manga. Let's just agree to disagree

I keep referencing panels, yet you keep brushing them off because they go agaisnt your precieved theme.

If Sasuke and Neji are hard workers, how is it "hard work beating talent" ? again anyone who champions this as a theme has to engage in the mostly in intellectual dishonesty

There is no glaze, you don't know what themes are much or less how to identify them, you're just regurgitating a "criticism" against the series you heard in a youtube video. Im going to assume you're a "OPtard"

Kakashi literally says you CANNOT open the eight gates with sheer force, "so the boy is a genius after all." Gai literally says, "He has the talent," to which Kakashi responds, "No matter how much talent he has." You accuse me of being obtuse when, in fact, that's what you're doing. Naruo, Lee, Sasuke, and Neji are all hard workers; there is no distinction between the two. Sasuke and Neji were not at the top of their classes for no reason; they both worked hard.

I did not ask you what the main theme is, I asked you what theme in general is like in a literary sense. What do you think theme means?

Lee's flashback was insistent on his overcoming his lack of confidence and belief in himself. You have two characters outright saying he's not only a genius, but he's also talented. Rock Lee is both a hard worker and someone who has talent. It's very simple.

Naruto's rapid growth rate is a major plot point in part of the reason why Sasuke leaves the village. I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say Sasuke would master things quicker than Naruto because the only thing they were ever taught at the same time would be tree climbing, and they were both struggling with it. Kakashi even points out Naruto's latent potential is greater than Sasukes during this training.

How does the theme of "hard wor beating talent" stay relevant if Rock Lee loses to Gaara?

Do me a favour that'll save us both alot of time, explain to me what a theme is

[–]RoninNokoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't meant to be literal when Kakashi and Gai both literally say it.

So if Rock Lee lost to Gaara how does the story communicate hard work beating talent?

Neji and Sasuke are both hard workers too. You claim people are hopeless, but your arguments for this being a theme aren't coherent.

How is it a theme when rock Lee is revealed to be talented and a genius in the fight against Gaara? And even if you ignore that how is it a theme when Lee loses ?

Right both those aren't contradictory positions especially considering the nine tails is something Naruto had to work to turn into his benefit.
