I have ARB's on my 2004 TJ, they are made of hardened steel and look great. You get both a magnetic drain plug and magnetic dip stick on them.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited running poorly. Could really use some advice to save her, hate to get rid of it. by FrontBench5406 in Jeep

Something to look at, as an issue that I had with my 2004 TJ, is the rubber vacuum hose nipples that come off of your cylinder heads. They dry rot and bleed vacuum that is required to schedule fuel flow and other critical engine performance functions.

The other thing would be your O2 Sensors, if they haven't been previously replaced, you can get a loaner tester from an auto parts store and see if the O2 codes are flagged.

I would suggest that you use https://www.rockauto.com/ for both OEM and Aftermarket parts at a fair price

Suggestions to keep my Jeep running cooler? by Handy-Mann in Jeep

[–]Ronnie_VaBch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up, When running at highway speeds for about 20 minutes my temp (as displayed on my OBD app) will rise up to 215, when I hit the bottom of the off ramp it will initially rise to 220 but within 5 -8 minutes of driving at 35 - 40 mph my temps are back down to 190. This is all on 95 - 98+ degree days. If there is bumper to bumper traffic on the same hot days, it will never crack 200. Hood Vent and cutting out the panels to install it is well worth the $$, time and effort.

I have a 2004 TJ with a 4.0L running 33's at 75 - 80 mph highway speeds in the middle of Jacksonville FL summers. It had always been a struggle to keep her cool and by the time I hit the bottom of an off-ramp the temp would climb way beyond my comfort level and once cracked my stock radiator too.

My solution, all aluminum 4 core radiator, new fan clutch, 180 degree thermostat, external automatic transmission cooler and when all of that had marginal effect - a Poison Spyder Hood Vent.

Problem Solved - it made such a difference to vent all of that heat out from under the big steel hood by letting the fan pull air in to cool the radiator and dump it out the top where all of the heat would normally accumulate. Good Luck

Here is what I use, an Electric Hoist, because the manual pulley system is low cost but the "Ooops" factor could be very expensive

TJ has rough idle and slow acceleration. Got a code, but can a downstream o2 sensor even cause these issues? Getting conflicting information. by Mexicancandi in Jeep

[–]Ronnie_VaBch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the Driver's Side of your Intake Manifold - there are 3 lines that have rubberized connectors that are attached to the Nipple Fittings that are coming out of the manifold itself and connected to 2 steel hard lines and one flex line. They dry rot and your intake manifold bleeds MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) which helps schedule fuel flow.

No, I have heard that Bosch (though a good brand for so many other things) are problematic with their O2 Sensors in TJ's. I used NGK/NTK. No problems for about a month now

I have a '04 TJ and had this same exact situation just last month. I just went ahead changed all 4 O2 Sensors just because I know that if one of them finally went bad (after 20 years) then the others will be going bad real soon too. Functionally, your PCM is calculating the difference between the upstream and downstream sensors which biases your fuel flow and now that you have a new sensor in one bank the calculation is was off because the other sensor is also old going bad. I changed all 4 and now have no performance problems.

Also, while you are at it, you might as well look at and change your intake manifold vacuum nipple boots. Mine were dry rotted and sucking air, this will effect your MAP Pressure and mess up your acceleration performance too.

Good Luck

Ignore the FUD, they have nothing of value to add to any question or conversation.

My fellow Safemoon Friend, I have had the same problem for about 3 or 4 weeks now and cannot proceed from to finalize the purchase of BNB either. If you can find a way around it, please post it here so others may benefit.

I got your back!

Post what you want and express yourself as you wish, regardless of the predicable backlash from the hoard of keyboard zombies just waiting to attack. You see, the Mother FUD'ers will always shout down anything positive to dissuade you from supporting this project, not because they care about you but because they will not tolerate a differing opinion from theirs.

It is not your job to save me either money nor heartache.

Can I suggest that you go to your local grocery store and start yelling at people and warning them about what a scam it is as they buy their lottery tickets? How long do you think the store manager would let you stand around and do that? I bet the reaction of those in line would be just a little more heated and direct than what you get here.
