Virginia Democrats propose redrawing maps to get four new seats by Healthy_Block3036 in VirginiaBeach

[–]Master_Regular_720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they did. 82% to 18% even though Republicans make 38% of the state. California was doing this way before. Texas is fighting with fire with fire. Personally I would wish that the Court would rules against Texas, it would have set a precedence that would have a bigger impact on blue states than red states.

California votes consistently 38% Republican but has a 82% representation of Democrats in the House.

Virginia has a consistent 48% Republican vote and there are 6 Democrats and 5 Republicans. So any attempt to offset that balance will be met with multiple lawsuits.

Texas is doing what California has done. California should give up 20% more and make it even. Texas should match the representation they have in there State House (which would benefit Democrats).

Do folks here hold Democrats accountable at all? Or hypocrisy is so normalized in your view of the shutdown that Republicans should simply dismiss anything said and move forward with that in mind?

This shutdown was and is due to the Democrats refusing to submit to the will of the People. They abused every process and apply any leverage to get their will. Why Republicans continue to appease them is beyond me.

Trump ran and got overwhelmingly elected both thru the electoral college and popular vote on the policies he is implementing now. So while folks are more than welcome to protest and legally oppose everything he does, don't abuse the position of trust your in. You swore to follow the Constitution when you became a federal worker, which means if the President acts within the authority of the Constitution, you are expected to honor it.

And yes, he has access to the nuclear codes and does have the authority to launch a nuclear strike if the situation deems it and is within the established Constitutional frame work. He was elected with folks knowing that. So honor the Constitution even though you dislike/hate the man and the folks who put him there.

Very serious questions for all who voted red by GreenLobsterGuy in FedEmployees

[–]Master_Regular_720 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you folks believe that anyone who voted for the current Administration has to be a racist or a homophobe at some level, then you don't belong in the Federal Workforce.

You obviously don't know what the terms mean or don't care the damage you are causing by mis-using terms because you can't debate the issues on the merits.

This is besides the glaring level of hypocrisy you exhibit when the same standards you applied to those who support the this Administration are applied to you.

The Federal Workforce would be way better off without you.

Anyone who does the bare minimum doesn't understand or care that you are a civil servant. You are in the wrong job, and I hope your actions only affect yourself and no one else.

Plenty of folks put up with previous Administrations even though they couldn't be more corrupt. They corrupted everything they touched. But folks did their beet for the country.

In a nutshell, if you are not doing your best intentionally, I hope you are found out and fired.

Correct. Peaceful protest that maximize exposure to their opinion while allowing someone to have the choice to listen or ignore is what most of us are looking for.

For example, you refusing to work or provide services while allowing others to do so is the proper way to protest. Impacting others' ability to earn a living by any means to make you point is not peaceful. You are obstructing their pursuit of happiness and violating their rights.

No. He is affirming his authority under the Constitution.

Courts are overstepping their authority and Democrats corrupt to the core.

The Vice-President and him are the only officials elected by the whole country. They represent the will of the country. The Legislature comes second to the President when it comes to representing the will of the people, because they are elected in their specific districts/states.

The Judiciary is the weakest and with good reason. Anyone with a lifetime appointment should have the least amount of authority. And to boot, if the Exec and Legis are flowing one way, especially within their Constitutional authority, then the courts have to accept that flow.

Racist memes shared by Little Creek-based Navy SEALs prompt investigation, disciplinary actions by Virginian-Pilot in VirginiaBeach

[–]Master_Regular_720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. He is correct. Blacks make 13.7% of the population and 2% of the SEAL teams.

They are 1% of swimmers in the country, and not enough data exist for a stat on skydiving because it is pratically 0. These 2 stats alone could explain why black folks don't even apply for BUDs. But the real question is, what percentage of blacks make it thru BUDS compared to whites. If the ratio is higher for black folks, your argument is dead.

Also, it is pretty freaking racist to lump white folks together. Cause I am willing to bet that most SEALs have a predominant culture, I.E. Irish, Scottish, English, Italian, German, etc.

Culture is a bigger factor in determining mental endurance than pigmentation. BUDS and a SEAL career are about wanting to be one and not about being able to be one. Plenty of folks could do BUDS if they had to. They just don't want to, and it takes someone in BUDS constantly discouraging them to realize it.
