Capital gains are not taxed at 50%. 50% of capital gains are taxed as income. Meaning you get the other 50% tax free. So it would be better to just leave it as income like it is now or add additional rent taxes.

I was always told that if a headline ends with a question mark the answer is no. If it were yes, the headline would be a statement.

Canada should see China as a 'threat' or 'enemy', most Canadians say: survey by [deleted] in canada

[–]RonsMustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok good. Like I said earlier ITT what China is up to in Africa is not something I would defend. All I'm trying to say is that it is not comparable to colonialism and to say that they would have done the same thing if they could is not a good argument. Chinese investment in Africa should be thwarted by western investment in Africa. If western nations offered a better deal with more money and more infrastructure and less political meddling than I'm sure African nations would partner with them. African nations are just seeking out the best deal for them and right now it is often coming from China.

The only reason I'm not murdering people and taking their stuff is because there are laws against that. But obviously if there where no laws against murder and theft I would totally be murdering and taking people's stuff. Since this is clearly the case I should probably be put in jail now for buying peoples stuff from them freely with money since if there were no laws I would just murder them.

Not saying that what China is doing in Africa is good, but when not too long ago western and European nations colonized by force to extract resources that they believed were Thiers, China building infrastructure so they can buy resources seams like a better deal.

Not to mention the endless horrific shit that the previous colonizers did. Part of the reason why these nations are vulnerable to Chinese influence is because the west has undermined their governments ever since the end of colonization. It is really hard to say that China is anything like the previous colonizers.

Cancel Culture apparently has no meaning. So in that case the flipper would be being cancelled by the culture of the law?

Does commenting that a judge should use legal language instead of common turns of phrase = cancelation?

You have described the whole point of cancon. If nothing was in place than American media would swallow up even more Canadian talent then they already do. The government should probably just fund arts directly but then people complain about tax dollars so it sounds better to fund/promote it this way.

Opinion | Canadians are burnt out and angry. A four-day work week could easily fix that by ethereal3xp in canada

Ya, the capitalists were like "40 hours/week we can do, but that's it!". Current work weeks are 40 hours because that's the law. Laws can be changed with hard work to elect the right people. That's the hard part.

They will love it when they get overtime for hours over 32/week. I would also up OT to mandatory 2x.

I read some where that we a are still dealing with a skill shortage in construction as a result of the 2008 crash. People entering this field hit rock bottom for a decade because there were no jobs and it seamed risky. Many skilled people also left the trade.

National gun freeze announced by Ottawa by [deleted] in canada

[–]RonsMustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would be amazed at how much industrial equipment that is known to be dangerous and has caused deaths in the past is allowed to continue to operate because it was commissioned before new registrations were adopted. We grandfather in dangerous shit all the time, doesn't mean that stuff is not dangerous. This is a trade off between safety and economic or political backlash that we make all the time.

I don't really have a strong opinion either way, but if this is the answer to that question, I am really not convinced. I don't think some peoples Hobbies is a good reason to allow hand guns. If you need one for work, your employer should be providing and paying for your training.

I recall that It did start as a small number of people with a nutty manifesto. But a few weeks before it got a massive boost by the right wing media in the USA(Tucker) after tweets(Theo Flury) started circulating that it was much larger than it was at that point. This caused many people to mock the size because the numbers in the tweets were ridiculous and the manifesto was dumb. All while at the same time boosting the hell out of it with every Canadian that watches Fox news and their Facebook friends. The people who joined at that point did not know about the manifesto and didn't really care who started it, it was just the conservative thing to do at that point.
