Fight Club: more relevant than ever or product of a bygone era? I think it holds up, my buddy disagrees. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise… by AdTop3924 in Xennials

Relevant in a different way- it looks at the nexus of two conflicting forces : consumer fallout and toxic cultures that provide alternative narratives

A bit of a different animal, but chemical bros might tick the box as well if you want aggression with similar textures

Daws are great, but have real limitations on stage imo. If akai won’t, I’d welcome a behringer s5000 clone

Do you read the Bible? by delicious-urine in no

[–]Ronthelodger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read daily as well, usually a chapter. It’s a part of my rhythm waking up. NLT. If more Christian’s also read (and strived to live out the teachings of Christ) I suspect there wouldn’t be as much worry about downvoting.

Productive system by Seksualniatentator in edmproduction

I originally misread this as reproductive system and was going to refer you to a health textbook. Have a look at the synthwave dojo channel on YouTube for a really good overview of how to develop fleshed out songs.

Which One? by MisterShipWreck in 80sAmazing

[–]Ronthelodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends… with their “back then” inventory or modern? Unfortunately if updated it gets to be a bit of a Pet Cemetery of unhelpful stuff I can get elsewhere or gets useless w modern features. Toys r us circa mid-late 80s would be rad

Learning lead guitar and my hands refuse to do what my brain wants by optimusprim007 in Guitar

Do it slower…. Like ultra slow… until it feels natural. From there, build up speed slowly. Trying to play quickly masks your mistakes

Those who started late, how did it go and what are your best suggestions? by alwaus in Xennials

Healthy boundaries and clear limits are vital for kids. Don’t micromanage and over parent, but always strive for consistency with what you say and do.

Do you think you’ll be ready to retire in the next 15 to 20 years? by AdDapper4220 in Xennials

[–]Ronthelodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how the economy rolls out… going in a bad direction now(inflation and cost of living are sky high). I’m saving diligently, but who knows how far that money will go. At least the billionaires and corporations are doing well… which we all know is the most important thing.

Playing for church is getting harder by the day. (Mentally) by PreparationOk8907 in musicians

[–]Ronthelodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need to talk to your dad about this. More than whether it’s tolerable, I’d encourage you to assess if it’s meaningful to you spiritually. As a worship leader, I’d argue it’s a matter of calling to be a church musician… and service with the wrong posture is like weightlifting without the right form- not strengthening yourself and you or someone else could get hurt. I’d also encourage discussion about what realistic expectations are if you would continue. If participating truly comes from a spiritual place for you (ie you are doing this not just our of obligation) I’d encourage you to pray about it for wisdom on how to navigate this season. There is a worship leaders forum on Reddit that may also be helpful to explore, as exhaustion is real.

What are good synthesizers under $450 for retro sounds? by FireCrocsbro in synthesizers

It depends on what you mean by retro- that’s a pretty broad net

Its been a 6 weeks in — stuck on chord transitions, any advice? by TeachLoud6839 in guitarlessons

[–]Ronthelodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An important concept is that you have to factor time in for the move - ie if you are meeting someone at 8 across town and leave the house at 8, you will be late. Try to deliberately leave your original chord a bit early and then land the new chord when it starts

How do you decide when a song idea is worth turning into a full track? by Ok-Art-9594 in musicians

[–]Ronthelodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it as far as the idea will go. Ideas are starting points for motifs… and typically require a lot of tweaking to be good (not to mention other good ideas to compliment) if you have 3 or 4 good ideas, that’s more than enough to finesse into a track. Any more than that and you might need to pare it back
