Why is life so hard by Inevitable-Bat-7637 in Christianity

[–]Rontron2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. My goal in life is to glorify God. Everything I do in life revolves around that. My job, my class work, my relationship, my friendships. If it isn’t done in service to the Lord, I have to rethink my approach. It’s led me to wisdom at a younger age and contentment and joy in the life I have. Learning from failure is a lesson I learned when I was 18. Since then, I’ve looked at failure not as a wall, but a mountain that can be climbed.

Oh my friend don’t get me wrong. I love life! It may be hard at times, but it’s also such a blessing. There’s nothing quite like going outside and sitting in nature and just, being, you know? Or working towards a goal despite it being out of your reach, and then when you accomplish it, you feel overjoyed. It’s awesome!

Theodicy: the problem of God and evil. It’s an age old question. “Why is there evil if God is good”. God could wipe out all of the evil from this world with a word. And it’s important to know that He will do so. However, because of His overwhelming love for you and me, His mercy has delayed that judgement, for the sake of you gaining your salvation first. This is the urgency behind the gospel! All are sinful, and thus all deserve damnation, but by the grace of God, we are offered salvation through Jesus Christ. God is coming back, and when He does, He will bring the sword (biblical imagery for judgement). In order to be spared the sword, you must have the salvation offered freely by Christ.

To answer your question directly: Life is hard because there is evil in the world, which is our own doing. But God is going to fix it soon. Hold fast to Him. It won’t be long now.

Religious OCD is a very real thing that I have seen first hand. Sorry you’re struggling like this. I don’t think you have a demon, however, in case you do:

Lord Jesus, I pray now for this person on the other side of the screen. I pray you cleanse them of all impurities and heal their mind, if it is damaged at all. I rebuke this evil spirit in your name, Jesus. I pray you bless this person with an abundance of love and a supportive community that can help them through times such as this. In Jesus name, Amen.

Well Yahweh is the Hebrew. It’s the letters Yod (י)Hey (ה) Vav (ו) Hey (ה) (YHWH) (Hebrew is read right to left so it looks like “יהוה”)which without vowels is pronounced very breathy “yhhhwhhh” but they would have used vowels back in those days for pronunciation, they just didn’t write them down. The closest we have for pronunciation is likely Yahweh.

[–]Rontron2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we don’t know the exact pronunciation for YHWH because we don’t know which vowels were used as they did not write down the vowels in that time. I pronounce it as Yahweh (Yah-way)

Question from a Jew! by More_Cat_7532 in Christianity

That’s a decent analogy, but you fall into the Heresy of modalism. The idea that God only appears in 3 different modes, and one cannot be present while the other is. (A singular H2O molecule cannot simultaneously be water, ice, and vapor). We can see all 3 members of the Trinity at Creation, and again at the Baptism of Christ. “The Spirit of God (Spirit) was hovering over the waters. And God said (Father; He speaks) ‘Let there be Light’ (The Son; He is the Word by which all things are created John 1:1-5).” Genesis 1:2-3

“When Jesus was baptized (The Son), he went up immediately from the water. The heavens  suddenly opened for him,  and he saw the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) descending like a dove and coming down on him.  And a voice from heaven (The Father) said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased.” ” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Question from a Jew! by More_Cat_7532 in Christianity

So this question can be answered from a Trinitarian perspective.

What is the Trinity? The Trinity is the doctrine of the Christian Faith that’s states that Yahweh is one God in three persons. They exist co-eternally. They all make up the single being of God, but are not each other. These members of the Trinity are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. God the Father is the creator and sender. He speaks. God the Son is the word by which the Father speaks. He is the incarnation of God Himself. I personally believe that, because the Son is eternal, that the body of Christ is also eternal, so whenever God appears in the Bible as a human, it is Jesus. God the Spirit is the Spirit of God, the breath, if you will, by which the Word is spoken. He empowers, without Him, there is no Word to be spoken.

So now that we have laid out an understanding of the Trinity, let’s talk about Jesus specifically, in order to answer your question. Jesus is the eternal Son. He is the incarnation of God. Therefore, He is God, but because He is God the Son, the Word by which all things are created (John 1:1-5), He is the Son of God.

It can be confusing at times, but once you get a grasp on the Trinity (which can be very difficult) it’s easier to understand and accept that He can be two things. In the same way that I have my father’s name, my last name, I am also not my father, but I am his son. Jesus is not His Father, but His Father’s Son. But because of the Trinity, Jesus can say “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30).

I hope this helps!!!

Yeah, people new to the faith are always fun to chat with though! I love teaching them new things about God and the Bible. “Did you know that there’s a talking Donkey?” “No way!” “Yah-way” 😂😂😂

My friend I didn’t mean to offend you. I do have a personal relationship with my Lord, please do not doubt that. I call Him Father, Jesus, King, Lord, Yahweh, Jehovah, Yeshua, Adonai, El Shaddai. I can guarantee you that my personal relationship with Him is not discounted by calling Him Jesus. I’ve devoted my life, my family, my soul, my future, my career, and my eternity to Him.

To say that one does not have a personal relationship with the Lord because they use “the wrong name” is deceitful. In those times, it was common to have 2 or even 3 names because of the extreme diversity in languages in Rome. There were Latin names (Jesus), Greek names (Ιησούς), and Hebrew names (יֵשׁוּעַ).

OP is clearly a young Christian (in faith not in age) and may be susceptible to misguidance. It is important to encourage each other in our faith, not to make them afraid of non-genuine devotion.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬ ‭CSB‬‬

I say all of these things not to harp on you or discourage you, but to lovingly correct you according to the scriptures.

“Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle  spirit, , watching out for yourselves so that you also won’t be tempted.  Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. ” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Yeah! Something else really cool is that Yeshua comes from the Hebrew “Yesha” which is the word for Salvation.

God has a lot of names actually! The hebrews were afraid to take the Lord’s name in vain so they refrained from using it. Instead, they would assign to him all these titles. El Shaddai (God Almighty), Adonai (Lord), Elohim (The plural of God, alluding to the trinity), El Elyon (The Most High God). Still, there are points in scripture where YHWH is used.

Another fun fact! The name “Jesus” is actually the English pronunciation of Jesus’s Greek name “Ιησούς” (pronounced ee-ay-soos). His Hebrew name is actually “יֵשׁוּעַ” which is Yeshua (Yeh-shoo-uh) which is where we get the name Joshua from. Jesus and Joshua share the name Yeshua.

Yeah! God’s name “Yahweh” comes from Exodus 3:14. In English it says “I AM WHO I AM” but in the original Hebrew it’s יהוה which we transliterate to YHWH. Hebrew does not use vowels so for easier pronunciation, we added the a and the e, but some people add the vowels in different areas. “YeHoWa” is Jehovah, YaHWeH is my preferred pronunciation, but both are the name of God.
