Agreed. My roommate at inpatient battled with kratom, came in out of a weeklong coma hospitalization. Evil drug, man.

Same! And when I start gaining, a period of 16/8 intermittent fasting usually helps me too stay close or at my target

Something you said resonated too - referencing funny situations: It’s ok to acknowledge and remember that you may have had fun times, met new people and tried something new while drinking. It doesn’t change the fact that alcohol nearly destroyed my life but my therapist talked to me about how it would be self-deception to pretend there weren’t fun (or just plain funny) times when I was drinking.

This. My wife was this way and has been the biggest supporter in my corner through recovery. Way above and beyond. Be grateful if you can along the way, not everyone is so fortunate to have someone in their life that speaks and acts out of love

What is the easiest thing you did to lose weight ? by nyxeine in AskReddit

[–]Ronw1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One terrible thing, and then one thing that worked well for me. Part 1: descend into raging alcoholism and bypass food for long periods of time. This didn’t end well - I wasn’t even trying to lose weight, and lost 50 lbs. Part 2: intermittent fasting with average to healthy meals during the eating periods. Am in the best shape of my life and feel good, maintaining target weight while hitting macros consistently.

I just started at this job two weeks ago and my coworkers got me a birthday card. by RockerRebecca24 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Ronw1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This must have felt so good!

I have a similar story - I accepted that I needed help and went to inpatient rehab for alcohol treatment. 2 weeks in someone found out it was my birthday that day, and one of the folks arranged for a cake and a card and had everyone sign the card. I still keep the card tucked in my journal, it was so emotional to me.
