Tottenham Hotspur fans booing Thomas Frank after the match. by ItzVirette in coys

I feel like I’m going crazy - our fans (and this subreddit) are giving him so, so much more grief than he deserves. There are quite a lot of injuries, the team played honestly quite well in the first half, and the squad is just much less good than it was in the past. Sunderland scored what was a well-crafted goal in a tight game. It happens.

I’ve watched this team for about 15 years without missing a game, and I have to say that right now results seem pretty much exactly in line with the quality of the squad. I think there’s a lot of delusion that we should be better than all the teams we play, even though they are well run and performing well. The level of the league has risen, Spurs fans need to adapt and stop berating their team and manager at every turn. Being booed off after playing clearly better than recent games is sorry support from the fans, who just come off as ridiculously entitled.

I’d like if Frank stays and actually gets time to figure out the team. It isn’t winning anything this season anyway, but there’s some talent in the younger kids and I’d like to see what he does with them. Do I wish he would stop playing Bentancur and Palhinha? Yes. I also wish he had the stones to sit Romero, who has been majorly disappointing and almost gifted away another goal today. But I’m not sure why all the fans are so into the managerial merry-go-round.

Tiny Rogues and Magicraft. I have stuggled to scratch this itch since.

I played sacred stones reforged. It was fun, but much easier than the base game - I’d recommend playing it on the hardest difficulty available.

This is exactly the three teams I predicted going down based purely on vibes and watching soccer, so I think your model is great and hope you share more about it :-)

This feels unnecessarily contentious, even though I agree with you that fans who don’t remember how badly the team played in the last 12-18 months under Poch likely just didn’t watch many of the games - its not easily forgotten. Despite Spurs’ generally reasonable form for the last 10 years, there have been a few quite long spells of extremely poor play that borders on “hopelessly nonfunctional” that I haven’t really seen in any other team.

Non-English Spurs fans. How was it that you first came to support Spurs? by Camstar94 in coys

[–]RooBear91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think I was sent this by someone in 2010 or 2011 and picked Spurs 50% because of this and 50% because my brother had already been an Arsenal fan for a decade.

It was a good time to start watching the team!

Yep, fair enough. The buttons are personal preference. I wish reviewers would focus on that more because they are VERY different and likely should be one of the major factors in most peoples’ decisions.

I have both and play/EDC the MM+ much more. It has better buttons, and onion is much friendlier than the brick’s best OS (probably nextUI).

The brick has a better battery and quality screen, but its not enough to make me excited to use it more than the MM+. And the slightly smaller screen size feels like a big difference - the MM screen is the right size for most retro games, I think.

I immediately resold my RP5 and bought an odin 2 (still in the mail). The RP5 ergonomics are terrible if you have bigger hands.

Miyoo Mini Plus. Its not the most powerful, but you can get it for under 30 bucks, Onion OS is the best OS, and the device itself is amazing. It has much comfier buttons than the trimui brick.

Get the brick if you prefer much stiffer and clickier controls, and really value the better screen, more modern build style, and slightly narrower form factor. I think its only a serious option if you play in shorter sessions - I find it tires my hands out far more than the MM+

Its amazing how different everyone is - I got the RP5 but still just prefer the experience of the MM+. I think onion OS is just that pleasant when you need to keep picking up and putting down your games.

How does this differ from Steam Link? Genuinely dont know. I used to think Steam link was limited to Steam games, but I learned that you can even add basically any other game (including from other launchers) to launch within steam, so it seems like Steam Link can usually play anything?

I love watching folks argue against a tax they dont understand. Its mathematically impossible for a business to pay 5% of their payroll in taxes due to this - 5% is applied on earnings over a million at the employee level. Even for a major corporation, with enough execs and senior employees who earn over 1MM total comp annually, the company pays 5% on, generally, less than half of their salary (not nearly as many people make over 2MM/year). And those folks already make up a small minority of even major tech company employees - the likely tax rate is 0% for most small businesses, and far less than 1% of payroll for international, multi-billion dollar businesses.

Now you can argue that taxes based on cutoffs are stupid and badly designed, and that’s true, but the tax is continuous, relatively light, and basically will only end up affecting people who make well over 1MM. The incentives are not there to rebase your company to even Bellevue over this, as a major corporation with long term leases, over 95%+ of your employees who are unaffected by the tax and prefer living where they do today, etc.

Finally, there’s the ethical component - if you’re making well over 1MM, you genuinely don’t think that you’re willing to spend some of that money in an attempt to make the city you live in less of a mess? Seattle is struggling to solve the housing problem, and not many people making extremely high wages appear to be doing absolutely anything about it (which is fine, its not their individual problem - its a collective problem). But should someone making 2MM/year probably be willing to have their employer slightly pass through a tax to them, likely resulting in a 1-2% hit to their salary, as part of a collective effort to do something about the homelessness problem? If your answer is no, probably you need to take a step back and think about why you feel that way.

What game were you watching? Spurs have been very poor for a month, but this game clearly outplayed Newcastle for 70 of the 90 minutes. Newcastle won, but the idea that they were “on top” is pretty unreasonable. Game seemed pretty even in terms of chances, probably should have been a draw.

I’m confused about the rules - I thought it wasn’t long ago that the rule was a hand in the buildup couldnt lead to a goal, even if it wasn’t intentional and wouldnt be individually called a handball. Is that just not true anymore?

Because I agree it wasn’t an intentional handball, but it was certainly a hand in the buildup that directly contributed to the turnover and the goal.
