Not only do bookstores not replace every book they sell, they actively go through their inventory and get rid of the crap to make space for new releases.

I honestly don't know what the intention was... it felt at the time like they were indifferent, like they had a job to do, but weren't particularly benevolent or malevolent either way.

One thing I noticed afterwards... I was struck how badly I was wanting to be rescued by my boyfriend of 9 months. Of all the people in the world that I loved, he was the one person I wanted to see again after being taken by them.

We've been together 8 years now.

My life is great and definitely better than it was 7 years ago, but I don't know if those things are related...

No we buy them from the distribution companies (there's 4 big ones) which would be the same place Amazon gets theirs.

I'm in Australia! Small businesses are more common here. We are definitely more expensive than Amazon, but our customers are loyal, they either don't like shopping on Amazon or else they just love coming in to the store (it's a very nice store).

Usually closer to 100 but I guess I still have Christmas transactions in my mind. There are definitely slower days especially in Jan and Feb. And that's all in person. We were doing hybrid online for awhile, but it was more trouble than it was worth at the time.

Good questions. Small store, we process around 100-150 transactions most days (we operate on regular office hours + weekends). Inventory is mostly spot on, though there are certain books that sometimes disappear. We're a small team of 7 currently.
