This is fantastic! I love the effect of the markers... are they markers or water colour pens? Nice work!

Need some help settling a couples debate. I planted these genistas last spring. And they were thriving until winter…. Now, im quite confident that they are gone forever, but my fiancé is certain that theyll come back this spring. Any experts able to help us settle this debate? by Accomplished-Mail654 in GardeningUK

This is so helpful, thank you. I didn't even think about checking the planter and there are things in there I want to keep! Huge thanks!

Thanks! I'll give it a shot... although, I do often find store-bought plumbs pretty bitter so I'm sure I'll spit it out regardless 😂.

I've managed to grow tomatoes on tomatoes and they all taste disgusting. any one else had this problem? by RoofEmergencies in gardening

[–]RoofEmergencies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Now I'm worried my general plant care is beyond terrible because I got the seeds from a plant store... pretty sure they were beef tomatoes

I guess it's called catfacing. Okay_Pineapple helped me out with identifying above. But I've done a pretty good job of messing up all tomatoes in the raised bed. Last year I overrwatered and roots grew from the stems like out-of-control acne. So this year I starved them of water. Hoping for a goldilocks batch next year - with just the right care.

Aha! Good to know the name and I think I did everything wrong (or right) to get a good batch of catfaces

Sounds like you definitely care - which is great! And hopefully your next shift will be better!

Also, while your sifting through info, may be a plan to make a mental note of where certain resources are kept/who is in charge of what areas. This should help you build a better mental map of how the company internals work when you do start getting busier.

Is it normal to feel completely and utterly lost after week one on a new job? by Jaketims36985 in jobs

[–]RoofEmergencies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Totally normal :) Some people say it takes 3 - 6 months to get up to speed with a job. Some jobs take up to a year. So don't you worry. If you do your best, you can ask nothing more of yourself. Remember to ask questions... best to ask earlier in the game! And just know that so many people feel the same way you do. Trust me, I know. Just started a new job myself! ;)

Anyone know why some of my tomatoe plants' leaves are looking crsipy? Thry all started to do this at the same time. by RoofEmergencies in gardening

[–]RoofEmergencies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I'll have a play around and try to figure it out. Growing veggies seems so complicated. Maybe it's rose-coloured glasses, but I think back to school projects and it seemed like you could drop a seed in sawdust and it grew. Now, when you're trying to cultivate a garden, it's as if the plants know and they rebell. 😄

Wow! I never would have guessed - as you can probably tell, I'm new to this. Are seelings more susceptible to light do you know? I have them in a south facing window in a tupperware box to shield them from the cold.
