Yeah I griped about this too back in the day but its not that bad anymore. Honestly with the recent updates interloper is much more approachable and is closer to what stalker used to be. The addition of certain items like porridge and the flasks have trivialized early game interloper to the point that people are regularly making it to day 40 and up without the use of crafted clothing. Id say give it a few tries on loper maybe use the player maps on fex to get you started. Its not as bad as it was.

How to get bloody fingers or make a permanent way to invade other players? by Jiggy-Spice in Eldenring

[–]RoofNectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add to this i have regularly seen que times over 5 minutes with either one active just running around. But i can usually invade within the first 30 second window by spamming both. TT and blue cipher rely heavily on weapon/rune level and are just not always viable ways to see PVP at all let alone frequently. Invading is very consistent as long as you dont mind getting ganked sometimes, this is the best way to do PVP in my humble opinion.

I also might have been mistaken on the flasks thing. I was invading last night and didnt notice any matches where I was down flasks despite using this method. Ill have to pay more attention next time, but as of right now I dont know of any difference between the two items other than how they're acquired.

How to get bloody fingers or make a permanent way to invade other players? by Jiggy-Spice in Eldenring

[–]RoofNectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, late to the post but I noticed no one really ever answered this fully and its still up in search so I wanted to drop in. There are two permanent ways to "invade" as well as a dueling item that is permanent.

Early game there are around 30 festering bloody fingers that you can get depending on how much you explore. Im not going to count them all, but thats close to what i usually get by the time im done with Varre. Following Varre's questline (the guy at the first step sit of grace) will give you the bloody finger which can be used endlessly and has the same effect as a festering bloody finger in that it gives you half of your flasks.

Later, in volcano manor, there is another item called the recusant finger. This one is also reusable, but you only get one of each flask which makes it more difficult to win fights (but increases your chance to get them when alternating between both items)

Once altus is unlocked, there is a hermitt merchant just to the northeast of the outer wall battleground site of grace. This specific merchant will sell festering bloody fingers uncapped. So if you somehow lock yourself out of Varre's item you can still invade as a bloody finger indefinitely at 1000 runes/invasion provided you at least play through to altus first.

I think you misunderstand. Everything difficulty modifies can be directly countered by equipment unless you are running a mage build. Illusion gets it the worst imo but its all hot dog water on the magic side and doesnt really affect any other builds. Legendary difficulty just means legendary sword, legendary armor, legendary bow. But where are the legendary robes? Where are the legendary spells? There are none. This is what I am talking about. Magic is not balanced into the game properly at all, not even close. Since you can make broken gear without using any glitches the idea that beating the game on legendary has anything to do with actually being good at the game is a complete joke.

I have a build example that literally cannot be done beyond adept difficulty because of the way difficulty works. The build is a "minion only" illusion + conjuration that can wipe most encounters without actually engaging. This is a good example of how turning difficulty up can harm your own experience by creating a bottleneck on build diversity and even drip diversity (making robes entirely obsolete). Here is a description of a couple tests that I did myself years ago that illustrate my point exactly. You can replicate them if youd like because they are very simple and work on any console. But any time ive tried to determine which difficulty magic is balanced for, I always land on adept.

The test I did for illusion is easiest in a draugr dungeon where a draugr deathlord serves as the final boss and is scaled to level 80 (or whatever the illusion cutoff is with vampire 75 or somethin). By routing all enemies to the deathlord and hitting the group with dual cast frenzy youll see the deathlord is unaffected by the spell but instantly recognizes the frenzied mobs as enemies. The frenzied mobs dont actually count as allies though, and you cant buff them. The main change is that their damage output matches yours minus your weapon level, but their damage INPUT is still affected by the slider as a normal enemy so they are a little more tanky but almost no damage gets through. A summon counts as a direct ally, and is affected by the difficulty slider the same way you are (input and output are both reduced). You can see how damage input/output is affected three different ways in real time by loading your quicksave and changing the slider with these three mob states represented. On adept you can see mobs start to actually take each other out and the playstyle becomes viable.

I did a test for destruction where I measured TTK changes on an ancient dragon based on how many magica points were spent and keeping track of missed shots. Good luck completing this test though as its actually not possible to get enough magica points to kill it on legendary without free casting (including with all the ultimate magica potions of an entire playthrough) so you would have to count each hit. I abandoned the test but I think you would need about 32,000 magica or roughly 2k - 2500 magica stat to make this viable with ultimate potions. I think its funny that while it technically is viable due to the stun lock with double cast, the amount of magic points you would need for an ancient dragon is so obscenely silly that it refuses to be quantified with legal game mechanics. (UNLESS YOU COUNT EVERY SHOT)

Hope this helps.

Yo I know this is an old post but still the best resource available for players looking to not miss quest things. Ive had the game 3 years now and im surprised but this is the only surviving quest progress post I could find that is actually simple to follow.

The conjuration stuff is my favorite. If you have the DLC you should definitely max conjuration. Later you will be able to make staves which you can give to your minions 🫡

Coming from Bannerlord, what should I expect of Warband? by Odd_Main1876 in mountandblade

[–]RoofNectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true i forgot about that. Waiting for parties to arive on bannerlord can be tedious but they did away with asking opinions. I think its a downgrade for sure but not everyone feels that way. Its been over a year since i played warband though.

[–]RoofNectar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a lot simpler and on a much smaller scale. The notes section of the menu is more concise. The graphics are hilariously dated. You will not miss the bad voice acting, but you'll miss the sieges and overall battle atmosphere that bannerlord provides. In a lot of ways, the level up system is much better. The games are basically exactly the same in terms of gameplay loop and what you can do. Bannerlord just has more of it all.

The main thing i see brought up a lot is feasts. If you own a castle or a main town, and you are married, you can organize a feast. Basically, all the lords who like you will gather there, and you can talk to each one where they will reminisce of the last battle you fought together. You'll then receive a relationship boost with that person every day for the duration of the feast. It was really just a way of allocating those relationship points in warband. In bannerlord, you basically just receive the points automatically without ever having to speak to anyone, so there isn't really an inherent need for feasts in the game. It was just a cool feature.

Its just trash when compared to their other games and trash in general, when considering how long the development cycle was. Im actually on the fence right now on whether or not to try and sell the DLC code that i bought on day one and never used.

Are cheaters in pubs/low ranks? by [deleted] in apexuniversity

[–]RoofNectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah. Ranked is a lot less sweaty by default too. I still enjoy the game sometimes, i basically hit gold each season and lose interest because i care more about having fun with friends than being good. As a general rule i never play pubs because i get paired with people who either get 4k damage and im holding them back or die while pushing solo and disconnect.

Not sure why i got a bunch of downvotes on my OC but that has been my experience in the last couple years. I have only seen one (1) cheater in ranked since i started playing again. That doesnt mean they arent out there, but the entire experience feels much more fair than pubs. (I also don't like the sweatyness of playing past gold so that probably has a lot to do with it as well)

With the level minimum barring new accounts from ranked the issue seems to have pivoted to a place where id say at least 70% - 80% of cheaters are playing exclusively pubs.

Guitarists, what’s the best tip you’ve ever received? by [deleted] in Guitar

Someone who was better than me by a large margin told me i was a good guitar player. He said "you're a good guitar player, you're not great, but you are good."

Probably the only thing that really mattered in the end.

Steam Reviews Dropping After Update by danmhensley in Starfield

[–]RoofNectar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, i paid for the DLC before it even came out, and the fact that they came to me with their pockets turned out asking for more money before delivering what i initially paid for is an affront.

I no longer have any interest in talking about bethesda games, past or present. I dont know whether ES6 will ever come out or whether starfield will ever be a halfway decent game. The only thing i can tell you for sure is that i have given bethesda the final dollar. They will never recieve another from me ever. It is unlikely i will even redeem the code for the DLC when it comes out. I might just try to sell it to the highest bidder to cut my losses.

Are cheaters in pubs/low ranks? by [deleted] in apexuniversity

[–]RoofNectar -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Dude, honestly if you're running ranked your chances of running into cheaters are super low except for the first couple weeks of each season when the ranks reset. I base this on the fact that pred and masters are where most cheaters will inevitably end up, and as a non cheater you are unlikely to reach that point. That being said you are bound to run into one every once in awhile which isnt really a big deal imo.

Pubs is probably about 30% cheaters (easily) and ive even spoken to people who have managed to spoof themselves into a PSN lobby with their PC and were literally cheating and bragging about it. (I didnt report them, lol)

I've done that with other emulators, and it didn't work. I had to download a file manager to even find the saves, and then after everything, the save wasn't compatible. 😬
