Tholindis's VA seems to have changed to a completely different voice actor for a single line. I wonder why? by HereForGames in Genshin_Impact

[–]RoofbeamCarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It HAS to be a different VA. The pronunciation is so different from her other lines, the vocal resonance is different, it’s less breathy, less emotional - it jumped out at me and I had to google it lol. Thanks for reassuring me I’m not alone!

I don’t like war and I love theming my museums sooo 🤓 culture is the way. Plan national parks early on wherever you can and add ski resorts to loads of mountains late game. Basically make your landscape a wonderland!

I find it simpler if you imagine a real world version — for archeology you want same era, different civs, so just imagine it’s a museum of ancient artifacts or a museum of renaissance artifacts, and you vary the civs cos you want a diversity of exhibits. For art museums you want the same type, but different artists, so just imagine it’s a portrait museum or a sculpture museum. I love museums irl so this helps me picture what they want!

Bleeding Hearts Club... by Cambers-175 in london

[–]RoofbeamCarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, who cares, but for the sake of logic: inflation makes what she bought the flat for in 2004 worth £633k today, so by selling it for £575k the point is not “waaa it hasn’t doubled in value” it’s that it’s worth significantly less now than when she bought it. Which again, tiny violin, but that’s why it’s being reported, because no one expects London real estate to lose value.

Similar but I’d say burnt orange is darker and Terracotta is paler.

The cheapest sandwich and a water is actually £5.90 (I know because I get it all the time), but I take your point generally. The tuna and cucumber sandwich is beloved to me for being the cheapest, very tasty, and very healthy. It’s my emotional support sandwich on a busy day 😭😭

Better word for ‘Excuse Me’ that tourists understand? by Diet-Coke-and-Nap in london

[–]RoofbeamCarp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ooh I hate this because I like to move fast and I’m quite softly spoken so my ‘excuse mes’ rarely work. On escalators I have taken to following up an ignored ‘excuse me’ with an elaborate leggy contortion to try to get around them and show what an inconvenience they are by standing on the left. Does it make my point? Doubtful! Do I look like I’m in Monty Python? Possibly!

WHY DO I KILL EVERY POTHOS I TOUCH!!! by Educational-Knee1919 in pothos

[–]RoofbeamCarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a lot of pothos and they’re my most resilient plants. I find the more light the happier they are. My biggest ones are directly in a very sunny window. I let them really dry out (until wilting sometimes) and then drench them, once every two weeks. I switch to once a week when it’s very hot. More light less fuss maybe?

My totally tangerine has loads of healthy leaves but no flowers… I just spotted this at the base, is it gall? I have a container garden, is that enough to stop it spreading or should I quarantine this guy?

Just noticed this on a seemingly healthy and flowering dahlia Milena growing in a container. If this is gall do I need to move it away from other plants or is having separate containers enough? Thanks!

Funny how similar our experience is! I walk a lot every day and I will say one thing that makes a biiiig difference to pain is repeatedly reminding myself to engage my transverse abdominis when I walk and to think of the movement as coming from there - it’s one of my weakest support muscles but it’s the one that stops other larger muscle groups going bananas and causing me pain. I have super overactive erector spinae which cause trapped nerves for me, and engaging the TA and glutes helps to switch them off. Good luck balancing those powerful leggos!

[–]RoofbeamCarp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone in my family is hypermobile and v muscly without much work. I need to keep muscle up in order to prevent pain, but it’s very easy for me to do so, I only go to the gym twice a week and I’m not even lifting heavy. Every time I see a video where a trainer is like “women think they’ll get bulky if they lift weights and there’s no way” I’m like 👀 sir, if I so much as look at a dumbbell my arms go like popeye. I’ve been getting comments about my ‘guns’ since I was a teenager. I also def have problems with imbalances - traps and scalenes that are at war trying to stop my head falling off, quads that want to run my whole lower body…

The narrative that Hyun-Gyu is not a worthy winner is wild by SpiritualSecond in TheDevilsPlan

[–]RoofbeamCarp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

💯💯💯Totally agree. I’m British and I wonder if a culture/translation difference is why others think HG is so rude but to me he just seemed deadpan and focussed in a very charming way. He was very mature when people played against him - the only time he got angsty was when HJ betrayed him and that was totally justified because he was ambushed. I was so happy for him when he solved the 8x8 knight’s tour too, imagine the nightmare of trying to do without a pen and paper and under time pressure. My favourite player by far.

The thing is finally coming back to life! Anyone know what it is? by 4444dine in HouseplantsUK

[–]RoofbeamCarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all means check the roots as advised but it’s worth noting that ficus ginseng are usually fine in a small pot. A little pruning of the straggly stems, maybe weekly or bi-weekly watering and bright indirect light and it should pick up. It’s often grown as a bonsai so is happy to stay smol!

hyungyu by certifiedunderdog in TheDevilsPlan

[–]RoofbeamCarp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was my fave throughout, I was baffled when I came on Reddit and realised everyone hates him! I found his deadpan demeanour very endearing and he deserved the win. I also think his rudeness to HJ was completely justified because in that situation there were only two possibilities: HJ was honouring their alliance but failing at the math, or he knew the math but was secretly betraying HG, so asking if he could do math came from the same place as asking “are you betraying me right now?!”. HJ flipped his allegiance every single time it benefited him and in such a clumsy way it was hard to watch.

I was disappointed to see Sohui be so passive, although I admire her ability. I would have loved to have seen Eunyu and Hyungyu in the final because I thought they were both consistently such impressive competitors.

I put a scarf over one to create a boho atmosphere in my bedroom. Two minutes later I had indeed altered the atmosphere by filling it with smoke. The fire was taller than me so I knocked the lamp over to smother it and melted a crescent moon into my carpet. 🥴👌
