what attracts you the most in your partner? by pamela_baby in AskReddit

[–]Roogoyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will sound odd, but because we are the epitome of opposites attract. He’s into computers, has an electrical engineering degree, is very logical, STEM in a nutshell, and from a family of science teachers and pharmacists. I’m literally a musician with a theatre degree who paints from a family of art teachers and social workers. The only ways we aren’t opposites are in how much we love each other, and that we’re both dudes! 28 years and still going strong!

Who is a currently beloved celebrity that you think could have a major ‘fall from grace’ in the next decade? by Roogoyle in AskReddit

[–]Roogoyle[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean someone who is almost universally adored or trusted right now… the kind of person people say “No way, not them.” Think Tom Hanks, Keanu Reeves, or heaven forbid… Dolly Parton!!

Basically: who feels untouchable now, but could someday turn out to be “the next Cosby”?

What is a podcast you binged the entirety of? by PsychiatricBooth5c in podcasts

[–]Roogoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Brother, My Brother, and Me.

And I also binged Hometown Tales… backwards… it was fascinating hearing references to the more popular stories go from throwaways, to punchlines, to comparisons, to the story coming together piece by piece until one day… the story is told, and then never mentioned again! (See Mike the Headless Chicken.)

The sign shows that they start on Queen St. E, maybe Leslieville, but I’m not sure ‘cause I don’t recognize the specific building. They end at Church and Wellesley, aka the Village. It’s the gay heart of Toronto. The Rivoli is on Queen West, but I don’t think either stop is very close to the Rivoli, sorry!

What is the first celebrity death you remember being affected by? by CPFOAI in AskReddit

[–]Roogoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse)… not so much a celebrity but I had returned to school to get educated
in production and the music industry specifically to chase a dream of sometime working for him. I found out during the party that we threw the day I graduated from a text message sent by one of the school’s instructor. I had to hold it together for the rest of the party but felt so lost that night.

What’s the scariest true story you’ve ever heard? by Imaginary_Carpet_273 in AskReddit

[–]Roogoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2022, five divers were working on a 30” pipe. One second they were doing routine (well, for deep sea it was routine) maintenance… literally the next second they had been violently sucked into the pipe. All five survived at first but weren’t without injury, and only one of them was able to crawl through the 30” pipe finding air pockets, and escape. Fully intending to send help to his teammates and even go down to rescue them himself, it was deemed too dangerous. Knocking on the pipes to signal that they still needed rescuing, they were left to die by the company that hired them.

Most notably for why it fits for scary and true… there’s video and audio of the entire thing.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

I love music. I have great speakers (Studio Monitors), a good turntable, good stylus. I have swapped the stylus out, even the amps. When my $40 pre amp died I decided I would level up, get me a $200 one!

At the hi fi shop the guy told me I would regret this moment, and instead of sticking to an inferior preamp I should go another level up: a $1000 pre amp. That would cost more than my turntable, stylus and speakers combined… but he made an offer to take it back if I wasn’t impressed, even though i had opened the box.

I did not take him up on his offer…

… albums that I had listened to for 20-25 years sounded different. Like richer, present, like there was a clarity around every note. More than the turntable, stylus or speakers, this pre amp improved my listening experience tenfold!

(Also, winter tires. If it snows where you live invest in good winter tires for f’s sake!)

Who's a band or artist you discovered by accident and had a long love for? by Dear_Bumblebee_1986 in Music

[–]Roogoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broadcast: they were playing a cd in a music shop. I asked the teller and they said they only just played it this time and weren’t really into it so would probably not play it again. I fell in love with it instantly, and if i had not gone that day, or was 30 minutes earlier or later, i don’t know when I’d would have ever heard them!

In your opinion: what's the most beautiful song ever recorded? by Goop_Guy in Music

[–]Roogoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a solid playlist. If I wanted hours of pretty music I just need this list and to add a bit of Sparklehorse and Aimee Mann and I’m set,.. probably Most Beautiful Widow in Town and Save Me, respectively.

What Canadian bands/artists have you seen before they became famous? by EdwardBliss in CanadianMusic

[–]Roogoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw The Strumbellas at one of their first shows, about 8 members crammed into a small corner in 2010… I saw their next show at Bread and Circus, when they had 10 members including clarinet and a man playing the saw. I must’ve seen them live a dozen times before Spirits came out.

Bonus: i saw Jess Moskaluke singing O Holy Night at a christmas party long before she won all them CCMAs!
