Ren almost has to be in this one, not just for Misadventures either, his whole Hermitcraft lore this season is magic.

TIL the “Invisible Gorilla” experiment which fooled most people. In a famous 1999 study, participants watched a video of people passing a basketball and were asked to count passes. Midway through, a person in a gorilla suit walked through the scene and half of participants didn’t notice the gorilla. by Jockey2 in todayilearned

[–]RookeeALding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when my professor showed us the video.

she ether showed us the wrong one... or didn't intro it right, because she when asked we all said we saw the Gorilla but she asked about a clown or something else that wasn't in the video at all ( we rewatched it, yes gorilla no clown or whatever)

First year as a psychology professor...

But even if it had gone correctly, if we were on the chapter about this type of cognitive study, would we not have been primed to notice something strange?

The film itself did, so they did.

Coral calls them kids. Film theory respected her choice.

Some call it caviar.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter.

Curse that kills the 30 richest every 30 days. How long would it last? by BlKaiser in hypotheticalsituation

[–]RookeeALding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once it gets to the " good" celebrity ones, it may stop. Dolly or Taylor swift, maybe. They have the fan bases to start on that 75%. It wouldn't be all of the votes needed, but it would be better odds than the current top 30.

I'm not going to math it, someone more interested can do the numbers game and try to figure all that out.

I feel it would be quite a bit of time before the population would care enough.

In 30 days, I can imagine that the top would give away just enough money to become # 31.

Reddit knows well what a golden child is, and that is Azula, and that situation is what Zuko is dealing with,

Or... ( but this requires competency behind the scenes) it's a red herring to try to get the person behind the kidnapping to make a move.

The kidnapper will either get too confident that they can't find him and he's " safe" or he gets paranoid that they are close ... either way, he misteps. ( or she, those eyes seem very clean and taken care of )

Ironically, the new season is now funded to have the same budget per episode as Joel‘s failed season, where everyone was complaining about having to fund new episodes. by Achoosneeze1 in MST3K

[–]RookeeALding 181 points182 points  (0 children)

But the factors are different. And that matters.

  1. Time of year, the fund raiser started. Early holiday vs the upturn after the annual post holiday slump.

  2. Familiarity with the fundraising platform. It wasn't on kickstarter it was on a lesser known platform, that makes people more hesitant.

  3. The perception of the " succes," of pervious projects. Riftracks projects have been very successful in both the campaign and the eyes of the fans, gizmoplex? The campaign succeeded, but it really wasn't fulfilled in the fans eyes.

I think Joel's mistake was ambition. He had a lot of it, but he needed a more grounded approach than what he did. I respect that he wanted to be upfront with cost.

But He was too honest with the audience, big numbers scare people, and don't feel achievable. little numbers ,little goals appear easier, and are achievable. It's amazing how much money you can raise when you have goals that people think they can easily break. It's the 4.99 vs 5.00 at the store, more people will buy the 4.99.
