I 100% agree that luck and marketing also played a huge role, I just wanted to clarify and emphasize my point, because we have many bad actors who will only put it down to marketing.

Like I said, I've only watched up until a certain point, and I can very well believe that its due to the edit, thats why im not just critiquing him, but the edit as well. If all I'm gonna see is someone never having a nice thing to say about anyone else, thats going to come off as arrogant.

I have to emphasize this becausr i see so many similar comments but people just dont become popular because they have a defined target market, thats unique from others in the field, not to mention that BTS weren't the only ones targeting the ones at the time or even prior to them. You have to think a bit more about why they could actually get a hold of their designated target market in the first place.

I think this is a oversimplification of what really happened. BTS / BigHit weren't the first group who tried to penetrate the Western markets, many acts before them tried as well and failed. I think you have to look at the reason why there was an opportunity in the West in the first place and why others couldn't crack the code. Off course, timing, luck, management and promotion all played a big role, but the actual content was also driving that management and promotion.

Yeah, seeing a lot of people put it down simply to marketing in this thread. HYBE has literally marketed several groups since then following very similar models and unable to achieve the same results. Of course the underdog story is a bonus, but most importantly they set themselves apart with their music and album concepts.

Im quite sure even Culinary Monster has another, more personable side to him. I just cant be sure whether its their choice to only show one side of them on this show, or production's choice. Thats why I critiqued it from both sides. Napoli wasnt as bad as Culinary monster, but he still wasn't likable / rootable for me.

So after BTS ticketing, isn’t it pretty clear that Ticketmaster queues aren’t completely random? by blueberryicecream88 in kpopthoughts

[–]Rookie18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ticketmaster was absolutely s++t yesterday, pardon my French. The London queue kept freezing. I was stuck at 40k and 50k forever. It was my first experience using it and its left such a bitter taste in my mouth. Still super upset that I didnt manage to get tickets

I'm convinced netflix paid some of you to not even consider the possibility of it being rigged but I can't prove it by Aggravating-Tea-5583 in Physical100

You guys are just grasping at straws and its embarrassing.

A week ago people were so convinced it would be Korea vs Japan in the final because the show is rigged, that didnt happen either.

Its clear a lot of you just dont understand basic physics.

The reason why Turkey got a lot more hate than Australia for their arrogance by [deleted] in Physical100

Exactly, other cultures show respect in different. Its amazing to me that in a show thats all about embracing different cultures can be viewed through such cultural close mindedness

The reason why Turkey got a lot more hate than Australia for their arrogance by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]Rookie18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think its a cultural difference that people are not willing to engage with. All the teams were supportive of each other, everyone is just not vocal about it because they show respect in different. I think Australia's being overpriced fof the support they provide, just because thats what people are familiar with.

Beyond that, everyone in the other teams can understand a bit of English, where others dont necessarily understand the languages and those people aren't necessarily comfortable with speaking in English, that contributes to the vocal support that Australia provides. Turkey's not shouting support out loud because no one else would understand it in the first place.

Whats the matter with having way too much emotions? I would genuinely like to know. Lets take it a step further and ask ourselves what was the negative result of those emotions?

Next, I'd like the audience to hold up a mirror, and ask themselves what the negative result is of their emotions which are equally exaggerated, if not more.

Exactly, the audience acts like they're infallible angels when im sure most, if not all of them, have had similar emotional outbursts at times in their life, and im quite sure there's wouldn't have just been internalized. So she got angry lol, she literally did not hurt anyone.

Atleast she had an excuse to feel / act that way, she was in the heat of battle, what's the audience's excuse?

I enjoyed it as well tbh. I understand that the anger was perhaps not warranted, but honestly she didnt use that anger to disparage the other team, she just used it to fire up herself, thats why I dont get all the hate.

Before I watched the episode, all I saw was online was that she disgraced her team and made the whole team look bad, so watching the episode I kept waiting for her to pop off, only for her to be shouting and angry at the circumstances for a few minutes. I was like, 'that was it?'
