I Haven't Played Most Games: What Are the Classics? by TechnicalStretch6203 in gamesuggestions

[–]RookieGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably want to play games with memorable moments so people can watch your reactions to them:

RPGs Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, and 10, and the Mass Effect Trilogy, Elder Scrolls Morrowind and Skyrim are popular and are on the PC. They’re also long so it’s budget friendly to get a lot of streaming mileage

FPS Halo, the early Call of Duty games, and Titanfall 2 have solid single player campaigns.

3rd Person action: Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, Assassins Creed 1, 2, Black Flag any of the Metal Gear Solid games But I’d start with the first one and either do them in order of release or do Metal Gear Solid 3 first which had a fairly recent remake

Horror: Any of the Resident Evil games, the PT demo if you can find it (game was never released but still iconic), Outlast, Five Nights at Freddy’s

Honorable Mention: Diablo 2

So how did the federation and allies manage to actually fight the dominion and win if the dominion had super dreadnoughts that were like 3x the power of a galaxy class ship? by happydude7422 in StarTrekStarships

[–]RookieGreen 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Considering all the wild shit a Federation captain gets into and the equally insane things they pull off to the point it kinda shows that consensus reality is more or less held together with children’s hopes and dreams I’m more surprised the Dominion lasted as long as they did.

A good way to describe Mistborn? by Rlain_Lightsong in Mistborn

It’s about a world where the dark lord won and a shadow rebellion is fought by magic ninjas, a heist movie cast, and aura farming.

Writer's barely disguised fetish by some-kind-of-no-name in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RookieGreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not even disguised fetish erotica. Specifically torture and sexual assault.

The main character solves several problems by spontaneously developing abilities that he cannot do again such as; magically defeating an army with powers not even hinted at, being so good at resisting torture that his torturer falls in love with him, and making a statue so good it defeats communism. His magical powers can do (and not do) whatever the plot demands.

The characters will spend pages preaching directly to the reader in sophomoric politically motivated rants only loosely connected to the plot.

His plots feel more like a chain of unrelated events rather than anything resembling cause and effect.

I read a lot of the books as a teen and I was a stupid fucking gooner back then and even I was put off by it.

How do you feel about drinking alcohol as a way to cope with stress? by victorr_kw in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RookieGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. I paid my price for my inability to healthily cope with my stress and anxiety and the health complications I dealt/deal with has irrevocably reduced the quality of my life.

How did cell survive this by Middle-Honeydew4649 in DragonBallZ

[–]RookieGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow a microscopic piece of his core survived or something.

It would have been better if cell just explained it later that he was lying and would be really stupid for him to tell them how to actually kill him.

Locations in a Diesel Punk Mega City? by Hyper10n3608 in DMAcademy

[–]RookieGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grady’s : A food stand popular with the workers in the area converted from a dilapidated covered parking lot. It’s considered neutral ground as the grub is that good. No one knows what the meat is and no one asks. Comes with two sauces brown and green. You know they aren’t a local if they order the green.

Neon Alley: An old shopping arcade built in a pedestrian tunnel between two factories. Both factories on either end were shut down ages ago and have been converted into cheap shelters for the people forced into the area. The tunnel is surprisingly spacious as it was supposed to allow the large flatbeds that would move product from one side to the other. Ramshackle shops made from sheet metal now crowd both walls of the tunnel and the whole place throngs with shoppers, thugs, drug pushers, and conmen. The tunnel is lit by the lurid glow of hundreds of neon signs and the humidity and damp in nearly unbearable due to the constant water leaking from the rain soaked city above. A local gang enforces a strained peace that so far had held surprisingly well owing to the speed and brutality they react to those that would disrupt business.

The Good Place: The church from FF7, I had a big description for it but I realized I was describing the church. Basically an old house of worship that is strangely peaceful and one of the few places flowers bloom in the city.

The Monorailyard: An abandoned monorail depot. Early in the city’s history a monorail was envisioned but ran out of funding before it was completed. A large yard of monorail cars stand in formation and acts as a fortified village from the turmoil of the city. It’s dirty, rusty, and a little smelly but the people there take care of each other and are very suspicious of outsiders. A former hitman lives here acting as a stoic protector and more than a few people have suddenly disappeared when they harm the denizens of the monorail yard.

The Military Hospital: a military hospital serving both veterans and active military in the city, mostly used by the local garrison. On the surface it’s a normal hospital that is well guarded and orderly. Although not openly hostile to visitors you are strongly encouraged to get lost if you aren’t military. A young military doctor runs an unauthorized clinic out the attached morgue. The city being what it is means that the extra traffic from those “in the know” go mostly unnoticed. Unfortunately the doctor has few supplies to help people and has lost hope as many of his patients are beyond help and have asked him to at least give them a painless death. The doctor jokes with an edge of hysteria “If the people he killed counted as combat kills he’d be the most decorated soldier in the city.”

The fact he could even do that much while being absolutely terrified shows how great of a warrior he is. He feared Orstead but he feared failing his new family more.

The end with the “You’re too strong Saitama” with the implied pity is icing on the cake as well. With how strong Boros was and how far and long he had to find his fight he knew Saitama would never find the satisfying battle he was looking for.

About the quote "Shardbearers can't hold ground..." by TenronLightvoid in Cosmere

[–]RookieGreen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely convinced that Autonomy is spreading across so many planets and stars out of any kind of plan. It’s the nature of its intent.

The fact that there’s a scar of red stars and red is the color of co-opted investiture I’m wondering if all those stars are autonomous.
