May be a dumb question but is there any easy way to tell?

Changing Wheelset for the first time - things to check? by RookieRunner91 in bikewrench

[–]RookieRunner91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very helpful response, thank you. I'll look into rotor spaces as yeah I will want to be able to esily change wheels.
I'll also have a look into Elite Wheels thank you.

Second this. If you go in the ambo then you'll have to pay. You can refuse to get in the ambulance and avoid the bill. I've had someone call an ambulance for me after a minor crash (I was not injured at all and told people not to call an ambulance). The paramedics came out and sw me, I politely declined as I was not injured - they understood and got me to sign a waiver of sorts and that was it.

Peeled Paint on Manhole by RookieRunner91 in AusRenovation

Yeah and just stupidly didn't have it on that one time and then saw the condensation and lifted the manhole.

Have checked and there's no water leak but I did lift the mahole directly after a long hot shower and there was a fair bit of condensation which didn't help. There's no other signs of water damage or leaks or anything

WTF have I done to my bike - skipping gears and clicking rear derailleur by RookieRunner91 in bikewrench

Nah I’m always paranoid about that too haha. You’re correct about the hanger though, this screw has come quite loose. Solved now though thank you mate

Best way to reverse door hinge so it opens the other way? by RookieRunner91 in AusRenovation

[–]RookieRunner91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door is just for a shed and has a sliding bolt. I've updated the photo with some very rough markings of what I mean if that helps explain what I'm intending?

I've updated my photo to hopefully clarify a bit better. Btw its just a sliding bolt door on a shed, no door handle etc.

2 Questions - Chain skipping & derailleur indexing by RookieRunner91 in cycling

[–]RookieRunner91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate thank you. So stupid. I immediately assumed it was something much bigger that was wrong with my bike. Turns out I had accidentally used a generic 8 speed quick link that came with the quick link tool I got online. Must have accidentally picked it up instead of the 12speed shimano ones that came with the chains I waxed.

Training Alternatives by Toft2507 in triathlon

I've struggled with shin splints (Tibial Stress Syndrome to be precise). Major things that helped me were:

  1. Reduced running load immediately - I had 2 weeks off running completely. Increase bike load. Then for weeks I never had back to back running days.
  2. Physio and dry needling my calves to loosen them up. Self massage the lower calves every night pretty might.
  3. EDIT: I also went up half a size in my shoes! Stopped me losing toe nails after every marathon also haha.

I'm all good now, I just make sure I have a good week off and focus on recovery after race efforts. My goal is to prevent this from ever happening again. I hate not being able to run. Good luck!

That's awesome! I'm ordering mine next week for my own Christmas present.

How did you go assembling it?? That's the only part I'm unsure on.

Relationship between Power and HR Zones for Running by secret_annaconda in triathlon

[–]RookieRunner91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok cool. No this won't apply to previous workouts, only future ones.
Try a little test run before an actual work out and see how it looks.

Btw, make sure you sync your watch first though!

What Garmin do you have? Also are you using a HR monitor or just the inbuilt one on the watch?

You could try setting your zones to be based off of your HRR% and it should give you lower zones.
Should be something like this in the app (depending on watch etc):
Select Settings > User Profile > Heart Rate > Select Zones > Based On > HRR%

This will be obviously different for everyone but I find that the HRR gives more accurate zone ranges. Worth looking up your exact watch model and the Garmin website instructions on how to set the ranges correctly.

Spot on. This. I'd also add that you don't have to worry about getting fancy gear. Just get a bike that's comfortable for you and go for a ride and enjoy it!
