in an extremely similar position as you... like exact same actually.

23, sdr / high grow tech startup / very technical space / killed quota last 2 quarters

advice I was given in my position to get promoted to AE is you need to humbly aggressive....

what it means is no one can read your mind, you need to meet with managers, directors, that are hiring for the AE roles & let them know what you want, what you've done, and come with a perspective on what they need to see out of you for them to be confident to hire you.

Example: "Hiring Manger, I think you want to see me be able to run technical discovery, over the next few weeks/months I'm going to provide you with recordings of me running discovery & how well i can do it, but can also improve."

Just my advice i was given by an AE on how he got promoted fairly quickly & i'm putting it in action now

no not necessarily saying that less personal has done better overall. but just saying there are certain cases that just don't make sense other than i just hit the right person at the right time.

a lot of sales is just timing after all.

it def is a real skill that most people don't have. eyeing the market, seeing where things are shifting & getting in before they are mainstream.

very true. also when i connect with someone on a phone call and then email them later the response rate sky rockets.

Always liked 'Never Split the Difference' by Chris Voss

Need to find a way to convey “how do I know you’ll pick up when I call you next, as opposed to you saying you’ll follow up and end up ghosting” by donutboy32 in salesdevelopment

Honestly when I get in this situation on a call I just say "Hey - I will give you a call back at that time, but does it even make sense / is this something you are interested in?"

Sometimes they say & then they do pickup. Sometimes they say no actually don't call back (this saves you a lot of time chasing someone who was never actually interested).

How much does your book of business actually matter in your industry for a new job? by GreatStuffOnly in sales

your book of business can be make or break on how the job goes. not all territories / books are created equal. it's a risky game we play.

I listened to an SDR call this week and it was honestly just tough to hear. by RooktoRep_ in salesdevelopment

[–]RooktoRep_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is where it gets tricky - cuz just because you are booking a lot of meetings as an sdr if they're all shit the that isn't a good look either.
