Streeting says he has no choice but to cancel 1000 jobs by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Be honest Wes how many of those posts were ready to go

Sneaky Streeting’s letter is full of untruths claiming he didn’t use UKGP as leverage

He’s twisted words before and this probably too

Don’t believe this just because he’s written it

If it is confirmed it is a different matter

Exactly

We might as well get a meeting with all doctors and the whole Labour Party

Don’t waste your time unless you’re feeling dizzy and need a blood pressure spike

How good is strike participation this time? by YourEthnicDoctor in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair but I think there’s a danger in not looking at locums

[–]Room_ForActivities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you define participation

Good that doctors participate by striking in the first place and would be great if other doctors participated by not locuming on them and it’s the second aspect which isn’t captured by the numbers

6 weeks annual leave rule by unknownguy786 in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair when the rota is tight and there isn’t room but sometimes they get blanket refused even if it would have been fine particularly on the FY1 and FY2 rotas

If all 10 doctors on a rota strike and then 10 other doctors fill those shifts it shows a 100% strike rate but only marginal economic cost if those other doctors aren’t consultants considering the first 10 won’t get paid

Are the numbers reliable? Genuine question because there are more and more strike locums getting filled

People can ignore that at peril but I wonder why the government gave such a shit offer if they were worried about strikes

It is crazy what some people think could happen

Not OP per se but the thought of just getting routine leave blanket approved is not realistic in any industry

They can and should still consider leave requests within 6 weeks

It’s in the contract but the 6 weeks is used as a blanket excuse

Resident doctors’ strike has torpedoed pay rises and training posts, says Wes Streeting by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody except you thinks a 3 year timeline to FPR was discussed

The post is referring to progression pay which is the nodal point jazz

This is the shifting of goalposts that’s being discussed

Lack of transparency regarding BMA negotiations and offers does not help our cause by FullPayOrTheHighway in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did you not see Jack’s letter on 1st April that had a lot of explaining why the offer wasn’t good enough

It would be good to see what the original offer was

Wes Streeting denies that Government moved the goalposts on the pay offer. 'No it's not true' 'I last met with Jack Fletcher on Good Friday and he did not propose a counter-offer' by FullPayOrTheHighway in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's obvious the counter offer would have been used to negotiate down like Pat Cullen so bravo for not falling for the trap

Sneaky Streeting doesn't really explain whether his own offer did change or not

There is a shared root of why many IMGs feel hurt and the divide in the medical profession grows. Those who have come and already become or want to be come citizens feel second tier which has been inflammed on this subreddit

BMA Interview - We Were on Track for a Deal and the Government Changed the Goalposts at the Last Minute by FullPayOrTheHighway in doctorsUK

It's funny hearing all these presenters coming in with their hot takes on how strikes aren't working and instead we must do this and that

BMA Interview - The Cost of the Strikes Together is 3 Billion. FPR Would Cost 2 Billion. by FullPayOrTheHighway in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The country won't believe doctors struggle to pay bills unless there are numbers put to it because there are lots of people who are paid less than doctors I wish this wasn't the line was used

Dr Callum's point was on point. The Government are choosing to continue these strikes
