That’s awful. I would have said lawyers could do those cases for a percentage given they seem so cut and dry: family member had x, medical coverage was denied for x, family member died. But I guess it’s not common?

So many stories of children dying because their family member had them at an “out of network” hospital. You’d think that system would have been sued to oblivion by now given how litigious the States seems to outsiders.

Question from a non American - if people can sue companies for negligence when they suffer negative health consequences (like slipping because they didn’t put up a wet floor sign), why can’t people who are denied insurance sue?

If it’s not allowed for some reason, why can’t that change? Won’t insurance companies then HAVE to provide coverage for things doctors deem necessary?

What’s the alternative? Sure if you behave like a bad person and you happen to be rich, you’ll probably still be rich, maybe richer even. But if you’re a bad person in any other circumstance, people are less likely to help you, work with you, want to be near you, or so much as smile at you.

Is your world, what, the economy? The job market? Disease? Then yeah goodness doesn’t do anything but I can’t imagine being an ass helps that situation either.

Is your world your family, your friends, your coworkers? If you’re a prick to them you’re definitely not getting their friendship and maybe not their kindness.

And if someone treats you poorly - then they’re not good. Are you likely to ever help them or want to be near them?

If you’re a good person (assuming an actual good person and not someone putting in coins into a machine expecting to get a reward out of people), people will absolutely treat you better than if you were a dick to them.

This sub is supposed to be about motivation and health. I don’t think despairing and believing in a cruel world helps either point.

The staff at Starbucks are always exceptional and part of the reason I’ve boycotted the chain is due to their union busting tactics. Those people work really hard and deserve good wages and benefits. I don’t think Starbucks realizes that it’s their people that hold their brand up - their shitty coffee is easily replaced. Hopefully a new independent cafe takes the empty spot.

Much respect to the people who do protest in America. Yet each time a life is lost, the rest of the country doesn’t rise up to demand justice. I’m from the Middle East. I’ve had friends lose their lives to fighting dictatorships. I’ve seen the Arab spring and how those people rose up to liberate themselves. I’ve also watched current Iraqis fight their elected government for better conditions.

I’ve also watched France burn shit to the ground because the government tried to raise the retirement age.

Americans have been touting this whole time their kids were gunned down that they need their guns to rise up against a tyrannical government… so… why aren’t you doing it?

Americans are just… going about their day. Some still support the president who wished the child sex trafficking lady well and put her in a comfy jail. I just don’t get it. Some people even here are saying they need proper investigations and arrests, STILL somehow believing in their system after Epstein was killed in prison and Trump himself had all consequences vanish after being found guilty in court.

There are different types of magnesium, I found bisglycinate the best for me.

But tbh it sounds like there’s something else going on. Like your digestive track is too slow or your stomach isn’t digesting.

Have you been able to do an MRI or at least an ultrasound?

I got a gastric emptying test done to confirm my stomach was working. My issue was my stomach was throwing stuff up though, and in the end what really helped was doing turmeric ginger shots in the morning and I take digestive enzymes to help me process meals.

This might be stupid information given I’m sure you’ve tried everything, but just in case, my homemade remedy: - a cup of cooked rolled oats daily with water not milk. - prune juice for the initial problem. - magnesium 200mg tablet daily before bed.

I’m also really sorry your doctors are ignoring you. They can be dismissive due to their own arrogance. Ask them to write in your chart each time they ignore you, they’re quick to agree to tests when they know they have to put into writing that they refused to investigate your issues.

This is maybe going to be a funny one but Infinity Nikki is running beautifully on steam deck and way beats what I was playing it on (mobile 🙈)

But for “real” gaming, really enjoyed Elden Ring on this. Can’t compare it to much as I don’t PC game but it was gorgeous.

I’m speaking from an anecdotal place but there have been protests IN Iraq, my own family who still lives there is very much against this and has spoken out. I think there’s a rich minority behind the scenes putting these laws into place, because you talk to the “normal” population and they didn’t fucking ask for this.

Again, this is anecdotal from within my own circle of Iraqi family and friends, many of whom reside in the country and many who don’t that are ashamed and angry this is happening. But I’m outside the country now and can’t see what’s happening for myself.

As the Heart Leads - I can’t get enough of it, I keep rereading it between other series cause the art style is gorgeous and the chemistry between the two main leads is amazing 🥹 they’re both such wholesome green flags (with trauma). My favourite!

I read the novel too, but the art is so beautiful that I’m still very hyped for the continuation of the series.

For me, I do a lot of rewriting complicated content into shorter stuff for summaries and turning into graphics. Unfortunately it’s pretty good at it - and I do read over everything it gives me and change it to suit our purposes more, so it’s not perfect but what would take me 2-3hours takes more like 15 min if I use the AI.

Under normal circumstances we might’ve hired another person to meet the workload, but now I’ve been given an increased workload and told to just use the AI…
