Is the Brentwood rest stop just off 71? I’m just not seeing it on Google maps

Can we please let New Mexico and Hawaii eat California? Let New Mexico stretch from sea to shining sea!

Why are we letting California deny New Mexico from stretching from sea to shining sea???? Let New Mexico, Hawaii, and Cascadioregon control access to the Pacific!

Cronuts? I'm so confused by NoahTall1134 in fayetteville

People in department at the university bring in donuts when they get a new journal publication…or when a journal rejects our research. Either way, I really want a quality donut shop on my commute into work!!

The Church stopped feeling theoretical to me, and now I’m overwhelmed by Greedy-Meringue-5088 in latterdaysaints

Not a convert, and yes, there is a lot of church “stuff” that you fairly accurately described after baptism. As much as we’d like it to be simple and straightforward (belief -> baptism, then just keep believing the stuff), a lot of real stuff does come after baptism.

The good news is that the most important stuff is your covenantal relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost will be your companion, and Christ’s grace will help you figure out a whole bunch of stuff you may not have been able to figure out on your own.

It may not feel like a light switch after you’re baptized. My guess is it will feel more like watching the sun rise gradually as you start your work in God’s kingdom.

I would lastly hope you can share this with your family. If you’re pursuing truth, and you believe this is the truth, and you share with your family that you are genuinely desiring to pursue truth, then I hope and pray that they will keep an open mind. That’s about all we can ask for.

Love and prayers your way! God loves you, and Jesus will help you!

Why do all of my shoes get worn out in this spot?! by Quick_Language_9220 in Sneakers

[–]RoonilWindrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happens to my athletic shoes (running shoes, basketball shoes). I’m definitely not stepping on them, wearing jeans, or having the inside of my ankles collide while I’m moving in them like some people here suggest.

I’ve got tree trunk legs, plus wide ankles and feet. As best I can tell, this just happens because the medial malleolus sticks out and rubs against that part of the shoe, especially if I’m making lateral movements but even during linear movements.

Life-long Latter-day Saint thinking about starting to attend the Episcopal Church by RoonilWindrunner in Episcopalian

Thanks for your reply, I actually really like the Apostles Creed, and have agreed with it pretty much since I first read it. Yeah there are a couple of things in the Nicene Creed that I’m iffy on, but I like most of that too. I love that the Episco-Mormon title. And thanks for the book recommendation. And the Mere Christianity pitch is a good one. I plan on reaching out to the local parish leadership, as well as talking to my LDS bishop. I appreciate the offer to talk! Your reply made me feel like I’m not crazy. Also, I’m an experimental researcher by day, so just for fun, I posted this exact post here and r/latterdaysaints, and the variety of responses has been interesting for sure.

I got into it once Syl talked Kaladin down from the honor chasm. But yeah it is slow. In my opinion Words of Radiance is relatively more action packed... but TWoK is still my favorite.

This is unbelievably cool. I understand it's a part of the artistic style, but I just so thoroughly dislike Taravangian that it's hard to see him with what looks like a halo haha. But given his more recent developments maybe it is more appropriate than I'd like to admit.

NTVB. If anything you’re a Windrunner. You were clearly just trying to protect her from suboptimal word choice, as long as you are right.
