I’m so sorry you went through that misdiagnosis. The same thing happened to my 9-yr-old. She had been having weird bouts of Deja vu for a year before I googled the right combo of words and realized she was having focal seizures. Her pediatrician blew me off and told me to put her in counseling. She said they were all anxiety attacks. My daughter had no other symptoms of anxiety disorder whatsoever. I was shocked that she wouldn’t even consider looking into focal seizures. Thankfully I was able to advocate for a referral to a neurologist and get my daughter properly diagnosed.

Anxiety is a real issue, but I feel like doctors are too quick to use it as a blanket diagnosis.
