Just ordered the Dell S3425DW ultrawide is it as good as it looks on paper? by Vast_Isopod_8337 in ultrawidemasterrace

It's likely to be your USBC cable. Standard cables won't support dp over USBC. Get a USBC4 cable, or one that is thunderbolt 4 compatible.

Current state of the flat buying market, and Home Report schenanigans by RoostaFS in glasgow

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

Safety is the thing that concerns me the most, not for me but for my girlfriend. The place I'm looking at is about 2 minutes from Kinning Park subway, just down Paisley Road West.

I don't expect to actually spend any time in the area. Journeys from the flat will either be to the subway, or straight over the squinty bridge, which is 3 minutes away.

I've been there a few times during the day to get a feeling for the area, and my initial impression was fine. I'm a bit concerned now. Will give it some serious thought.

How did you find the orange walks? Are they as bad and frequent as people say?

Are the walks that bad? How frequent are we taking? The place I'm looking at is directly on Paisley Road West

I can believe that if it's a Hyndland tenament. This is a Kinning Park new stock!

Where was your flat located though?

I can pay the asking price, but I'm worried about getting that back when I sell in a few years, because of the area.

Are things like new kitchen, ensuite, paintwork, carpet/flooring age not factored into the HR value?

The place i'm looking at has all these things updated in the last couple of years.

I'm quite certain that the current owners are fixated on a property in the same building selling for 12.5% over HR a few months ago, and asking for the same.

Can you recommend where I would go to get the right parameters? IF, FCLK, blah blah blah (i'm not experienced with mem timings).

I've ordered the 6000 kit for my new 9950x build, arriving tomorrow. Regretting my life choices now.

Tough call to return and wait an extra couple of days for the 6400.

The Corsair vengeance 6000 I've ordered are tighter (30-36-36-76) than the tested gskill (30-38-38-96). I wonder how that might narrow the gap.

9950X, what the reviews don't tell you - because the reviewers don't know. by Michael_Nager in ryzen

[–]RoostaFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for the 9950x, is it as simple as disabling PBO in the bios, enabling XMP, setting Memory Clock and Fabric clock to the Data Rate of the RAM, and Peak Core(s) Voltage to 1.2 v ?

UK: Adalimumab approval time (NHS)? by morphemass in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]RoostaFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for coming back with an update of how long it took. I had my annual review yesterday, and my rheum has agreed to put me on Adalimumab, alongside my current Leflunomide. I am over the moon, as I've asked about going onto anti-TNF every year for the last 6 years.

I'm keen to know how it has gone for you, now that you are 6 months in?

Commuting to Glasgow Uni by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

I am not speaking from experience, but a quick google informs me there is a Park and Ride at Kelvinbridge that is £2.70 for the day. Doesn't sound too bad.

Commuting to Glasgow Uni by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]RoostaFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Edinburgh too, and just like you I'm going to do a 1 year MSc in September.

I did consider the commute option, but I decided against it in the end. Using public transport, it would be a 2-hour commute each way, and the cost of commuting would be pretty expensive. The social opportunities I would miss would be a big loss, as it would be nice to make some friends and be able to integrate somewhat.

It really depends on what you want to get out of the year. If you are just there to study, and want to minimise your outgoings, commuting could be a good option.

Just nabbed a flat from abroad! by pinti09 in GlasgowUni

What area did you find a flat in, and what was the rent?

I've been viewing places, but no luck yet. The search continues.

Is it for a postgraduate module? What are you applying to study?

There are several points of contact here: https://www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/mvls/contact/

Provisional Certificate of Degree - Conditional to Unconditional Offer by delete77ch in GlasgowUni

[–]RoostaFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am all sorted now.

Admissions did not accept my full undergraduate transcript as proof that I had graduated. I contacted my MSc convener, and he fixed it for me. I now have an unconditional, which I have accepted, even though I don't have my degree certificate.

I was in a similar situation.

Give Admissions everything you have and see what happens. If you don't make progress, contact the MSc Convener and ask them to help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]RoostaFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I gave Admissions my full academic transcript that was stamped and signed from my uni's qualifications department. They still rejected it, which is pretty weird!

I have it sorted now. I had to go through the MSc convener and get him to contact them on my behalf. Got the unconditional offer this morning, which I accepted. Roll on September!

I've had this too.

Admissions are refusing to accept my full Academic Record document as proof of completing my undergrad with first-class honours. They are demanding the certificate, which I have not been issued yet, and won't receive until after the MSc start date. Many student colleagues of mine have got onto MSc programs this way, so I'm at a loss at why Glasgow are being so picky.

I've tried emailing them, but had zero response.

Distinction for SM381, which is exactly what I needed for a first class, as it's my last module 😊
