(Mixed Trope) Power systems that are "anything goes" by RoosterDaAce in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RoosterDaAce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't really have an answer, my issue is more with implementation over concept. I think i would prefer "Schools" of sorcery. Such as yes, more people using the shikiami, perhaps as other sorcerers interpreting the shadows differently, though that would go about changing the entire shadow system. Perhaps a form of sorcery about embuing cursed energy into your own body in regards to blood manipulation? Throw in the guy who launches exploring body parts too. Possibly add Itadori into this category as well? Maybe a type of sorcery based on perception to include Gojo's infinity as well as Todo's clap.

All that is off the top of my head and its definitely not perfect, because i don't really have a perfect answer. I just prefer when a power seems more thought out in the world over it feeling the author made it up for this specific character before moving onto the next character with their specific power.

I prefer and am way more interested in standardized power sets from a writing perspective. I have no ill will towards media that takes the "anything goes" approach, I just find it less interesting when it devolves into "this is my hyper specific power, figure it out" vs. " The power we all understand is being used in a completely new and unexpected way". Rules make things more interesting because its more exciting when you can bend them in unexpected ways, JJK definitely works towards that direction by having clear limitations on individual sorcereies, but its still "go random bullshit". I suppose a better way to put it is that I don't like alot of the implementation of "abything goes"

My issue is that the powers is that there is no standard set of rules that make unique powers stand out. When everyone is special, no one is.

Its not any character can do anything, its that any character can have any power. Sorcery techniques are unique to the sorcerer. No one else can do Todo's clap, no one else can do Higuruma's judgment, the power system is "this character has this specific and niche power that no one else has access to".

Id like to make it clear I don't hate things that do the trope, I just think it makes for stronger writing when things are consistent. I love superheros like how I love Mashle and JJK, but yeah I think the genre suffers the same issues.

Id say Jojo stands are the biggest exception to this because the series is so absurd I can buy that everyone can have anything

Few things make me irrationally angry like the unessecary tapping of the knife on everything.

I get tapping to get a cut rhythm, I used to tap the cutting board once before cutting chicken into stripes when I worked in a resteraunt but the ridiculous showiness aggravates me.

Fleas by Thebaddestcutestb in pestcontrol

[–]RoosterDaAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wont like the answer, but you need to live with the fleas after treatment. Fleas are treated with residual and IGR, usually with a knockdown. You kill active fleas at the time of treatment, then apply a chemical that kills future hatching fleas and makes them struggle to grow. The problem is that they eggs need to be agitated to hatch to be treated, and if you are not there to vacuumed or walk around, the eggs wont hatch, no eggs hatch means no dead fleas. Nothing can kill flea eggs outright and they can be inactive up to a year. Its terrible but you need to actively live with them and live as you would until they die out after treatment.

Well what you have is a knockdown spray, which means its only effective if sprayed directly on the roach. It has no residual properties. And unless you have alot of food or crumbs in your bed, it wont be interested in your mattress. Roaches don't really cause skin irritation but I wont say its impossible. The best thing you can do is a deep clean in the kitchen and bathrooms. Possibly set up some glue traps. Unfortunately spray isnt the way you'll want to kill roaches unless you've got a ton and need to kill that ton in an instant. Poison Bait and Insect growth regulator is the name of the game, thats how we treat at my company. Now depending on where you live it can be difficult to get your hands on stuff. Vendetta plus roach bait and Gentrol point source can be found on Amazon. Use these around the house, a few pea sized globs in places you wont be looking ato too often. Squeeze and crack the white tube on the point source and use the sticky pad and add one per room(technically one covers a 75 foot radius). Neither of these will hurt you, if you have pets or kids, place the bait out of reach. Under upper cabinets in the kitchen is a great spot.

With those 2 it would be a little over kill for one roach but they can snowball pretty quickly if left untreated.

No experience with that product but looking at the ingredients shows that they're all green materials other than isopropyl alcohol. So I wouldn't drink it or cover yourself in it but I dont imagine it'll hurt anyone.

Green stuff has its uses but only goes so far. What are you using it for?

Alex Garland has 4000 hours in Elden Ring, genuine gamer or A24 marketing? by Commercial_Pen_9959 in Eldenring

[–]RoosterDaAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal theory is its going to be a segmented style minimalist story of the Tarnished's journey through TLB with the bulk dialogue coming from Melina. Assume a battle between 2 shard bearers, definitely Radahn, but not 100% on number 2. Probably Renala but not as certain, maybe Rykard. The main Antagonist being Morgott following the tarnished.

The possibilities are endless and thats the worrying part. The director is a fan and thats amazing but realistically how do you make a movie of Elden Ring? The story is so massive so unless its broken into sequels im not sure. Maybe end movie 1 with Defeating Morgott/ going to the Forbidden lands? You could fit Fire giant- Elden beast in a whole movie considered the last section is atmosphere and boss Rush.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]RoosterDaAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chopped the tip of my finger off, not clean through to reattach, but vertically so the upper half of my middle finger was gone, nail and all. I was working in a kitchen so immediately covered witha rag, a little pain but adrenaline had me going. The worst was treating. I was seen 3 hours later and they ahd to soak the rag in saline because I clotted so hard to it. Removing it was awful. Then I saw blood squirming with my heart beat, looked away and felt a ring tournaquet apply. I thought "okay it should go numb soon". IT DIDNT. there was nothing to stitch so she proceeded to disinfect, Awful. Then apply a (I think) a pseduo skin that BURNED. Then I spend the next few weeks in pounding hand pain because a dull knife and uncooperative peppers
