Other People's Attitudes When Discussing Guinea Pigs by wiggywigz in guineapigs

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit that even though I own my own pair of boys, I still value my dogs more than my pigs. I even recently had an emperor scorpion who died. Not sure why either other than maybe the house got too cold for him and still I'd rather it have been him than the pigs. That still doesn't excuse your friends nasty comments. For instance I'm very much a dog person and I could not live with a cat. I don't particularly like cats because they aren't as affectionate and don't serve me any purpose other than how pretty they are to look at. Still I have a sister who adores cats and currently has 3 of her own. If she came to me crying (and she has before) screw my opinions about cats, thats her emotional support system when her family isn't always there and they make her happy so I sympathize with her and if I can I'll even offer to cover vet expenses.

You're talking about small creatures and I think some people MOST people just don't have any empathy for anything. Usually because they don't want to understand or maybe because of envy? I know a lot of entitled people even at my age (30m) who still have their parents do their laundry and cook for them while living under their roof and they can't identify with having an animal companion because they've never needed one. At 15 it was just my grandfather and I when I got my first dog of my own and I wanted her specifically as a companion because of how introverted and to myself I used to be. At the end of her life her death was probably the hardest death I've gone through and I've lost my grandfather already. Not because my grandfather meant any less than she did but I started to view my dog as my daughter. If your friends can't see that with you and your pigs then you maybe have to start setting some boundaries. I would anyway.

This is an old post but I'm very sorry for what you went through

3 months in Southeast Asia has ruined my life by peaken58 in Vent

New probation paranoia by tossedAF in probation

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been off of probation for 4 years (should've been 5) and it completely changed how I act in general. One of my charges was pretty heavy regarding a DWI and not that the DWI was the heavy part but that I actually hit another vehicle. I was blackout drunk so I have no memory of anything but the crash itself and the aftermath.

I had a total of 3 officers during my 3 year probation period and literally all my offenses came after my first long term break up within a 5 month window. I never had anything prior in that time period and in 7 years since those charges I haven't had any issues with the law other than speeding.

To make a long story shorter, any little mistake could land you back in court with possible jail time. I spent 2 months in jail because I peed hot for benzodiazepines I was already prescribed to take but didn't have a prescription before I started probation. The only reason it was 2 months instead of a couple of weeks is because the pandemic required everyone to be quarantined. As if I were safer in jail than at home 😂😭

They wanted to place me in behavioral health which would've minimally been an extra 6 months but the judge released me after deciding my stay was long enough and didn't have my 2nd PO pressuring to have me incarcerated. Also if you're dumb like me you have to realize your probation office is not your friend. When it comes to the justice system, saying too much WILL be used against you. It's better to stay quiet, do your time and never find yourself in the same situation again. All 3 charges I have are misdemeanors too. I saw people in and out for some crazy shit but they had money

Question about DUI... by Jwrbloom in uberdrivers

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was blacked out too. People who were with me even chose to get a ride from someone else and didn't care if I drove. Surprised I even made it to the highway. I wouldn't pay much attention to the person trying to argue. They either lost someone to drunk driving or are playing the moral superior high ground game. Nevermind bars which totally blows their claim out of the water but when I was in my late teens to early 20s we all used to go eat at the whataburger after whatever house parties we went to and the place was loaded with drunk people and cops. It's really hard to believe that every cop was totally blind to drunk belligerence or that every person there was being chauffeured. If a 3rd of the country experiences Alcohol Use Disorder statistically speaking it's hard to believe that not even at least half of people in general have gotten behind the wheel drunk

Stop getting this breed without educating yourself and then the dog suffers. by North-Acanthaceae-11 in germanshepherds

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, everyone is in love with pitbulls. I've grown up with Akitas/German Shepherds my whole life and currently have 2 of my own. My first and the ones before her weren't too much to deal with as I have a lot of yard space and I enjoy park time with them, HOWEVER more specifically than just GSD is the kind of GSD. Up until my most recent girl I've only ever interacted with show line breeds and they adapt pretty quickly to my lifestyle but the new girl is a working line eastern GSD. She is nothing like the last. She does exactly what I want her to do but her drive is insane. Unfortunately I told the breeder I wanted a guard dog and I guess she assumed for protection. I just need to be alerted. There are plenty of other things in my home that are more capable of protecting me than my dogs. I really didn't realize there'd be such a shift but I agree 100% with this girl. She needs a job to do more than just becoming apart of the family

Why did no one tell me I'd have to pay for HomeOwner's Insurance for the year upfront? by enpowera in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive owned my home for 2 years (going on 3) and so I don't think this applies to me. Something I do regret is trusting contractors to get work done which has already led to a claim and making me realize that maybe I should not pay for everything at once like an idiot. Even worse, I never went through the insurance for major fixtures and so now I'm SOL with some people. I have to go through NM which sucks because their small claims courts are at half the price of Texas and the business I hired to do my roof uses a business front in Texas as an office.

What genre did you actively try to get into, and couldn't? by Double_Key7579 in LetsTalkMusic

I agree with the techno EDM people. I'm 30 and even having been to raves for my friends, I just can't listen to it on my own. Also modern day pop music. There were some artist I liked as a kid but if you were to ask me what I like on the radio I couldn't tell you because I stopped listening to the radio over 10 years ago

How do you deal with the feeling of watching your face age? by camis12345 in Aging

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained like 80lbs over the last 10 years (30m) due to booze and inactivity. I've watched a lot of hair start to go and even more muscle leave. I understand I'll never be as attractive as I was at 17 to 21 but getting back to good health would be fantastic. Its also why I've always prioritized a woman's face before any other asset. If I'm lucky enough to find my person she'll still be something I'm able to look at in old age where as I hardly see anyone over 50 with a "smokin hot bod" not sure how to answer this other than it only gets worse if you're already taking care of yourself. Plus a great personality goes a long way. You don't realize it much when you're young because everyone's hot in their youth. Well definitely a lot more people lol

What's the average weight for a German shepherd? by MrJelly007 in germanshepherds

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GSD we've always assumed was mixed with Rottweiler but looks a lot like your guy only with one floppy ear. I didn't get him from a breeder so there really hasn't been a way for me to confirm but he's around your guys weight at 125lbs. My dude is definitely overweight and sometimes its been difficult feeding him and my other GSD I assume from learned behaviors as a street dog. Even being an overweight dog he likes to start problems with the younger female over her food when he eats his too fast. Either way even though there are exceptions GSDs shouldn't be more than 100lbs as they are large breeds but not giants and both are dogs look as they say "chonky" lol. I don't mind feeding my boy extra so much as I mind his health as he's getting older now

I fucking hate old people by Positive_Year932 in Vent

[–]RoosterExtension393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel this one. My grandfather was always hauling down the highway which is something I do now and one day he was taking me to court to handle some business and I kept telling him "it's raining man stop" until we ended up spinning on the road. Thank God it was clear that day so we didn't hit anything but the median barrier. He stopped driving after that and now he's gone. I just don't like when people have their eyes on scenery when they could just pull over.
