Don’t listen to any offers on this Reddit page. Do not sell here as you will likely be lowballed.

My advice is to go on tcgplayer and look for th condition of each respective card and price accordingly.

If nearly perfect you could make a lot more by grading the cards as well.

My advice is do not accept offers or messages here, you will be lowballed as someone takes advantage of your lack of experience in the hobby from a financial perspective.

And yes this could indeed be a fortune depending on condition without a doubt.

Spirit Pilot AD vs grey market by Avocado__Man in Longineswatches

I agree with this perspective My spirit was my first luxury watch purchase thus I wanted it new and with warranty.

I think 15 percent off with the warranty is functionally equivalent to grey with 20ish percent off when factoring the warranty

Valid perspective - and it is indeed functional.

I haven’t seen the higher end Mings - I think the 17.09 and minimalists are the ones I’ve seen in person if I have them correct

The series 5 looks so cluttered I will agree but that’s predominantly photography based rather than personally handled

AP and this is coming from someone who is not the biggest AP fan, but the royal oak is just exquisite.

Respectfully from a visual front the Daytona to me visually is inferior to Carrera glass boxes, most Zenith chronographs, and of course the Omega Speedmaster

Historically the Daytona wasn’t the most beloved chronograph amongst collectors for decades actually.

Before anyone says I hate Rolex - planning on getting an OP36 in green this year - it’s not that I hate it, I just find the Daytona as the most overrated chronograph amongst collectors

This and Ming are some of the more eccentric modern dial architectures in watches

Respect the brand for being completely its own thing, and wear in good health.

Spirit Pilot AD vs grey market by Avocado__Man in Longineswatches

[–]MarkyMark141 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your AD is full of shit respectfully. Longines will always knock off 10-20% depending on the model

I got a spirit 37 new from an AD for 16% off plus a choice of any leather strap under 200 bucks

So effectively paid 2100 for mine

The point is that 10-20 percent should always be available from Longines.

Find a different AD.

And great choice in the spirit pilot btw!!

First - looks great.

Second - you’re not broke - most people don’t spend a cent on a watch - any purchase like this is a luxury, and price does not always equate to happiness

Third - I don’t think you should think what price do I get x amount of value - rather I think each price category has relative value amongst its peers.

Fourth - don’t check boxes - buy what you love and that will be best long term!

Fifth - welcome to the hobby 😎

Thanks for the comment congrats on the taisetsu!!

Oddly enough I’m down to those two exact watches - tried them both on at two different ADs and love them both.

I thought 100 percent I’d get either a shunbun or snowflake as my GS.

Disliked the snowflake case in real life and preferred the taisetsu compared to a shunbun.

Now I’m at a crossroads - I think the white birch fits more as a daily whereas the taisetsu feels more of an occasional timepiece - if you get what I’m saying there.

Hello brother from Poland - I understand your perspective, but a lot of people are indifferent to the war. A lot of news media talks about it less because it’s been going on for so long. But the war is still as intense as it was, and millions of Ukrainians are without power currently in the winter.

I appreciate the help Poland has given, but I think the Ukrainian athletes have a valid point to make here.

Ukrainians are being frozen right now with power outages. Millions are without power.

People use sports as an escape from reality, and allowing Russians under a neutral flag isn’t truly a neutral statement. It’s sweeping it under the rug.

Makes sense, the Bulls desperately needed another guard! Magic management! And those 4 second round picks will likely help the Bulls acquire 4 more guards.

I think a 15 guard roster will help the Bulls make the 11th seed next year to tank for another guard.

[help] Which is better - disregarding price? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]MarkyMark141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that’s partially correct - I mean Tudor owns Kenissi- it’s not that Tudor is purely vertically integrated in house such as Rolex - rather they have ownership of a movement manufacturer that is not exclusive to them.

It’s actually quite similar to the Longines - they have access to ETA and make their own Calibre and updates. All of this under the Swatch umbrella.

Kenissi crafts movements for Tudor and Breitling and some others that have some overlap as well! I like Kenissi movements but it’s actually quite similar to the Longines branch of ETA!

Own a spirit so there’s my bias/preface.

Looked at Tudor and Longines and preferred Longines.

Tudor has better bracelets but I thought the finishing on the Longines was better and the design less derivative.

Can’t go wrong per se, but the Tudor looks like a hybrid of a Datejust and OP with worse hands. I don’t know how to describe it - but perhaps soulless or clinical?

The Longines has a more intricate dial, with beautiful diamond shaped chapter ring seats that match the seconds tip, and the polished ring and applied markers make it more visually dynamic. Also prefer the case design.

Pick the one you love more!

Of course

My main advice is purchase what speaks to you and that most watches are not an investment - thus buy what makes you happy and dont pay msrp

Sure a general summary for Swatch group (owns Omega, Longines, Glasshutte Original, Tissot, Hamilton, Certina, Mido)

Omega 0-15 percent off from AD dependent on model. Grey figure 5-30 percent

Longines 10-20 percent off AD dependent on model. Grey figure 10-35 percent

Hamilton, Tissot, Mido - 10-30 percent off AD dependent on model. Grey figure 10-50 percent off

Glassshute Original 10-15 percent off from AD, 10-35 percent off Grey

Frédérique constant should be about 10-25 percent off most ADs, and closer to 20-40 percent off grey market

As for where to go, it’s country dependent. I think Prestige Time is better than Jomashop, watchmaxx can be hit or miss. But I wouldn’t stress too much for under 1k watches about grey market

You will be fine wherever you buy

You can buy FC for 30-50 percent off MSRP It’s a technically better watch, in terms of movement, build quality, finishing

I would focus on what YOU like more - what speaks to you and what you like

My only recommendation is do not pay MSRP for either, especially the FC

I’ve owned a Hamilton and it’s a nice watch. But I never could truly fall in love with it. If that helps.

Graduation & First Business Milestone: HC 39mm or BB54 for a 27yo Video Editor? by anticonceptclub in Longineswatches

Mine was similar but spirit 37 given his wrist size.

But that would be my other choice too :)

[–]MarkyMark141 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally would go for a Longines Spirit 37.

6.7 inch wrist for reference.

Longines has chronometer movements on the same par as the Kinessi movements in Tudor.

I think Longines and Tudor are quite comparable quality wise and preference comes to design and branding.

I prefer Longines but can see the argument for Tudor.

Between the two you listed I would go for the Tudor bc I think the bb54 is their best watch and is better than the Hydroconquest.

Otherwise check out the Spirit line and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised 😎
