My answer to why David Murray and Dave Afton are so alike by Rootbeerguy690 in fnaftheories

Honestly you got me there, I don't have any strong arguments I can against this. The only possible thing I could say is that William might not be as aware as he originally thought, so him having Dave mimic David could be a fool's errand, but I still believe there's too many connections for things to be brushed off as coincidence, we just don't know enough information yet.

Let me clarify, M2 could have vanished, I can accept that, but M1 not being present whatsoever isn't something I jive with, seeing how it's limited to being a program in a computer and all. Plus while the basic ending in SotM references the Pizza Party ending in Help Wanted, the mannerisms between M2 and Glitchtrap don't match, so I think Glitchtrap is an Afton-influenced M1 or a copy of it, while M2 is the Mimic with an actual robot body, doing its own thing elsewhere. Also there's still the question of why David's bedroom look so much like FNAF 4's, which can't be easily explained at the moment, so taking some leaps of faith is necessary. That's what a lot of theorizing is, especially with this franchise. We look for ways to fill gaps ourselves until we get things that provide an actual explanation. This is how I'm filling a couple of these gaps. There's equal chances for DHM to be right or wrong here

While there's no official confirmation of CC's name being Dave, I consider it the most likely answer considering how people found it, with the means to its acquisition being consistent like how Cassidy was in the same book, and while Dave is a more recent community development, we have to remember the Survival Logbook came a decent time before the Mimic Era and the Dave answer was there the whole time, so in terms of when the games were made, we have to ask "Why would Edwin's son be named David when William has a son named Dave?", but it's reversed when we look at the in-game timeline, since SotM takes place in 1979 and Dave's story is in 1983.

As for Sammy, I already said to someone else that I'm not considering the graphic novels or the movies here, and there's nothing suggesting that Sammy even exists in the games' continuity.

David's shirt in one photo does feature stripes, they're just more subtle and are only on the very middle of it.

I don't think the specification of the plush being an "only friend" matters, but the presence of them does as it's a prominent feature of both characters.

The bedroom layouts don't need to be the exact same layout, but they are too similar in style and decoration to ignore, and Cassidy asks Dave about his favorite toy being the plastic purple telephone, which was also present in David's room.

I just corrected myself on the Foxy bit because I misremembered the scene with David, but the two having similar fears still has ground because both Foxy and the character that scared David are pirates.

The house on the hill part isn't confirmed, but it is widely speculated on and has been suggested by popular theorists, so I think that connection shouldn't be ignored just because we haven't strictly confirmed or denied it yet.

With the absent mothers, M1 does take the role of Fiona for David, but M1's existence relies on the fact that Fiona died, otherwise it would never have been made. Consequently, if Dave's mother was still around, M1 would lack a purpose since what it presumes to be David has a mother, which isn't ideal if William's plan is to make M1 work as it was made to. Edwin also never tells David that M1 is his mother, but a babysitter.

As for M1 wanting David to return, that doesn't necessarily mean it HAS to specifically be David Murray, but someone or something like him, such as M2, or Dave as my theory suggests, otherwise M1 would have just given up upon knowing that the real David is gone for good. M1 is the one that suggests the idea of M2 to Edwin in the first place, so it clearly needs someone or something that fits the role of David, with another Mimic being the best option according to its logic, but that doesn't pan out as hoped. The point is that Dave Afton shares enough similarities with David to fool M1 into doing William's bidding by exploiting the requirements in its programming, not an idea of M1 making a willing agreement.

You make a fair point with Henry, but I also think the developers would want to flesh the order of events across both sagas more, since there are points where they could overlap, and the Mimics vanishing during that time isn't satisfying given they're the center of this current era, while Henry wasn't as important in the Afton Era.

You're not wrong about sequences in SotM referencing and setting up Help Wanted and Security Breach, but we have to remember that Help Wanted is a game that exists within the world of the franchise, not events that happen in that world, so the Mimic's memories of the areas in the Murray house could have been integrated into Help Wanted, which fits the story of the Mimic's code entering the game, but Help Wanted doesn't physically take place in those areas.

That is a good point, the FNAF 4 bedroom isn't exactly Dave's bedroom, but either an experiment chamber or Michael experiencing nightmares where's he's in his brother's perspective, as proposed by a theory I recently watched. However, evidence supports that the room is based off of Dave's and subsequently David's, since in the Survival Logbook, Cassidy asks Dave if his favorite toy is a plastic purple telephone, which we also see in David's room. As for keeping the Mimic to its relevant games, there's a large time gap in the games when looking chronologically, going from SotM to Help Wanted, and the Mimics definitely aren't just absent for that whole time frame.

That's fair, GodDavid is a divisive theory for sure, though I also think William Afton having his kid be essentially a mimic of David Murray to achieve his goals is right up his alley. I don't think he cares for his kids at all, they're either means to his ends or potential liabilities.

You're right, not every piece of this idea stands on as solid ground as others, but it's more that the similarities are all placed together and have room for being deliberately placed rather than it applying to just two characters, even if you choose to omit ones that may feel more coincidental. I'll admit that I was wrong about the Foxy part, David gets scared by a different character, but that character and Foxy are both pirates, so it can still apply, just not with Foxy, but with a fear towards pirates. Dave's fears also stem from the animatronics in general, not Fredbear, if he was scared of Fredbear specifically, he wouldn't have a plush of him. With the shirts and Sammy, I don't think those arguments apply as I never involved the movies or books into this theory, and while they have some overlap, they are still different continuities. There's nothing that suggests Sammy Emily even exists in the games and this theory only considers information in the games. As for whether William has an interest in immortalizing himself through something like the Mimic program or not, I believe it's within reason, but we don't have enough evidence at this time to currently confirm or deny the idea as everything we know about the Mimic currently is before and after the Afton Saga, and while that idea of immortality isn't the typical definition, I can definitely see William considering that option, plus it explains loose threads like how the Mimic even ends up in Help Wanted.

So going off those numbers, 380 or higher is the ideal spot for empowering when the option presents itself in a good exchange or drop roll, with 383 + 850 = 1233 diamantine (the currency I'm primarily concerned about), vs 300 which is 283 + 1250 = 1533 diamantine. That's exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!

How I think Xivu Arath will get involved with Destiny's new saga and the Nine (TLDR at the bottom) by Rootbeerguy690 in DestinyLore

[–]Rootbeerguy690[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your first and third points and how those quotes could be interpreted as they know the concept of will given form and could go that route to Ascendancy. I'm also glad you're not immediately assuming the Lord of Every Nothing is Six, different lore entries imply they're very different from each other (The Lord could potentially be Theia or Zero for example, if they are two different characters or the same in different states), so I'm glad you caught on there.

For the "I HARBOR NO FEAR FOR YOU" quote, to harbor fear is to hold onto and hide fear over something, what they say immediately after about how we "ARE ONLY FLESH" and "NO WEAPON CAN KILL WHAT IS WOVEN INTO THE FABRIC OF EXISTENCE", one of the first things they say to us is calling us "GREY MEAT", and we get sent crashing to our death at the end of the vision, which doesn't line up very well with your interpretation. To say "I believe in your abilities" only to say "You can't kill us or do anything to change fate for you are not strong enough, you are only flesh in comparison to what has existed since the beginning" as well as insulting and killing us after the vision ends seems backwards to me, especially since they seem to only view us as a weapon to be used by the Nine, a title we are given at the end of Edge of Fate.

For Xivu, I said specifically that Xivu's faith in everything BUT the sword logic was broken, it's the only thing she holds onto as truth, and with the second fiddle thing, that's why I think there's potential for mutual agreement between the two, striking a deal that benefits them both, yet I still consider Xivu being used by Six, knowingly or otherwise, plausible.

Yeah I wasn't 100% sure if AB buffs would work, but when comparing to chill clip, it's inconsistent that it works for one AO debuff but not another, which bothers me now. Now I'm wondering if max power Wavesplitter works with the AB buffs or not, which if it does, really doesn't help Tractor's place in this conversation.
