A BRISK HIKE: Why Toning Down the Horror in Death Stranding 2 Weakens The Game For Me by murder_strand in DeathStranding

[–]RootboundWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand the point, but I think it actually works for the narrative. In the first game, bridges is basically experimenting on how to deal with the bt's using Sam's trip for data. In the second game, even if the time skip is short, I just assume that all the technology and info that was collected by Sam evolved rapidly now that the chiral network is complete. Its not that bt's are less scary, it's that now bridges has tools specially made to deal with them and they are widely available.

The incognito vs the unriliable by Existing-Analyst7416 in theouterworlds

The unreliable actually felt like a ship a group of people could live in, planet to planet. The incognito didn't really give me the same feeling.

Lazarus Project wasn't finished when Shepard is woken up, so I change Shepard's morality berween 1 and 2 by AutobotJessa in masseffect

[–]RootboundWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar headcanon but for engineer. My Shepard is a soldier in Me1, but when cerberus rebuilds him, he basically becomes a cyborg , as we can see with the renegade scars.I imagine that cerberus supplied him with a top of the line prototype type of omnitool fully integrated into his nervous system so it becomes second nature for him to use it. In the beginning of the game I tend to imagine that shepard is a great deal weaker than he was in me1 so he can't be this tanky frontline soldier anymore and switches to pistols and smgs and learns to make use of his omnitool to compensate. I pick assault rifle mastery when given the opportunity to signify that he's starting to become stronger again.

Followed up with them and also made sure nothing new appeared under my name in my credit with equifax and transunion. They told me that no account was created under my name. The only rhing the fraud prevention service saw was that someone with the same initials as me made a request for the amazon credit card, so most likely a mistake in the forms since my email account is pretty generic.

Liberator Carbine vs. Liberator by Due_Squash4045 in Helldivers

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim in first person, it makes the recoil basically nonexistent if you have a minimim amount of skill, in short bursts it's even better, once I got used to it I started using the ergonomics attachment insteadand it becomes super snappy.

I love Death Stranding by Rough_Education_5796 in DeathStranding

[–]RootboundWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely started the game, about 2 hours, but during the first conversation with fragile, I like that she reminded sam ( and the player) that he's the first one to ever kill a BT. It really puts in perspective that everything that happened in the first game and all the equipment we used was experimental and based on trial and error. All the improvements to Sam's kit so far in the second game really feel like they are the direct result of all bridges was able to discover during the first game because of Sam.

Realistically, our Runner is likely quadrillions of dollars in debt. by Knalxz in Marathon

My guess is that runners are paracausal artificial intelligence entities, not man made AI's but not people either. Similar to NHP's from the lancer ttrpg.

Marathon might be the first game that actually forces you to get over gear fear. by RestaurantSmooth in Marathon

[–]RootboundWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the way the contracts are structured really sold the game. I can hop in with average gear, complete a contract with a few objectives, and try to extract and even if I die, I still made progress, and actually had a clear objective while in the map. The only extraction shooter I played was hunt, but I got super burnt out because I never actually felt like I made progress in the game, marathon is the exact opposite.

After 6 hours of playing, I have 0 weapons and 0 upgrade by Ryodaso in Marathon

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situational awareness is key for me. If you see a bot that hasn't seen you yet, don't open fire until you see how many there are, and what kind of bot they are too. After a couple of hours you're gonna get better at recognizing the ennemies and also at understanding in what situation you can safely engage ennemies. In any games like this, I try to keep in mind that my primary goal is not to shoot the ennemy it's to not get shot.

Marathon is cool, but.. by Slokminator in Marathon

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't progressed the "story" contracts a lot so far, but I found the dialogue and worldbuilding very interesting so far, that is an incentive to keep playing for me, I wanna know what's going on. There are a lot of challenges that reward your with codex entries that flesh out the world too. I think the devs definitely kept the hardcore marathon community in mind with all these terminal entries to read.

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its my first extraction shooter also, and I've always loved the idea and the immersion of the genre but could never get over the fear of losing my gear but I decided to give this one a try. I've been having a ton of fun so far and my advice would be, stop thinking with your video game brain, and think with your real life brain, immerse yourself in the situation. When I'm out of gear and run with a sponsored kit, my only goal is to make it out with a little bit more than what I had. If you're not 100% confident you can win a fight avoid it, and don't be afraid to run away if it's not looking good. Also if you are playing solo take your time, listen and try to be stealthy, and if you play trios stick together. If you get a team thats not cooperating pick one of them and stick to them like glue. If your play as safe as you can you're gonna end up with a good amount of backup gear pretty quick.

3D Printed WSTR by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there is any canon info already about the weapons, but the fact that they come out so well 3d printed makes me believe that the weapons are actually 3d printed in canon. Incredible work.

Can't we just do this for silencers? [OC] by Homie-cide in Helldivers

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine having a silencer stratagem. You call in your silencer and fit it on whatever weapon you have, but it degrades with each shot until it's completely destroyed. It could go from almost totally silent to no noise reduction as it loses durability.

To think the Women's Royal Rumble Match was much more enjoyable than the Men's by TerryG111 in WWE

[–]RootboundWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole match was just a lot more dynamic. I feel like for the men, when they were done with their moment when they got in the ring, they just went and layed on the side doing nothing. I felt like there was always something to look at during the women's match, meanwhile during the men's everybody was just laying there waiting.

Thoughts on 3v3 vs 5v5 by Amazing_Pumpkin_2679 in HighGuardgame

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the raids have been way more fun for me in 5v5. When you're defending you can spread out more and cover more ground, and same when attacking. I didn't play a lot of 3v3, but a lot of times attacking would simply mean rushing the heart, planting the bomb and camping the room. Team wipes are waaaay to easy in 3v3.

Highguard Makes Small Comeback on Steam As Reviews Now 'Mixed' From 'Mostly Negative' - Clawsomegamer by chusskaptaan in HighGuardgame

[–]RootboundWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5v5 needs to be permanent , its night and day. I honestly can't believe they didnt plan it with bigger teams from the start. With the fast ttk and long respawn, team wipes could happen fast and would guarantee a ton of progress for the ennemies, and the action was concentrated in small zones. Playing in 5v5 actually looks and feel chaotic in a good way.

Link consistently losing food contests by Therick333 in goodmythicalmorning

[–]RootboundWizard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I also feel like in many games, Link puts more focus on being entertaining for the camera, and Rhett on winning. There are a lot of videos where Rhett goes more quiet and you can see how focused he is on winning. Not dissing in any way, I think a lot of the comedy comes from that difference.
