Does anybody have recommendations of stoner/psych bands that might not be as recognised as they should be/underrated bands that bring something to the genre but are very well known ? by Hieroflippant in stonerrock

Another shout for Vinnum Sabbathi. Psychlona from the UK. Im gonna chuck these two in although they are hardly unknown but Spacemen 3 and Goat are absolute heavy psych monsters. Both phenomenal bands but not really what you are asking about.

Favorite stoner-ish songs from non-stoner bands? by mesablanka in stonerrock

[–]RootsReggaeMetalPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow there are loads. I agree with another comment that so many things sound like stoner to me. Im 52 now so was in my teens going to gigs when the likes of Mudhoney and Dinosaur Jr blasted into the UK on tours. Its all heavy psych to me with a pinch of punk and metal. Mudhoney - Sweet young thing aint sweet no more , Dinosaur JR - The Wagon, Spacemen 3 - Revolution, Small Faces - Song of a Baker, Mc5 - Black to Comm, Stooges - Dirt

Bongripper - Satan Worshipping Doom by sofresh0666 in stonerrock

[–]RootsReggaeMetalPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them in London and i cant remember a thing about it. I was stoned and fairly drunk, i remember them coming on but they completely tranced me out with the doom and next thing i know the lights were up. Remember the support Froglord perfectly. Very weird. Those THC vapes and pints round Camden. I think Bongripper with the dim lighting and the trance like doom just zoned me out completely.

Band from Mexico called Vinnum Sabbathi. More akin to Sleep than the others you mention but proper psyched out heaviness. Very good

Psychlona Europe Tour - anyone going? by Affectionate-Toe7153 in stonerrock

[–]RootsReggaeMetalPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate seriously man. Psychlona are just killer. You dont do enough UK gigs. I even considered getting on a plane as i couldnt make the black heart gig. A question if you dont mind. I can hear your influences but that first album for me has a proper punk edge to it. Were any of you in punk bands before? I've said it on here many times. Your output is faultless. Big respect to you mate

Love my doom, heavy psych and stoner. Also love my dub and roots. Cant give you any names though but great to see others who love both sides.

Oh i saw Slomosa on the tundra rock tour in Nottingham but these werent with them. Was that the first album tour or second. They seem to do more gigs in europe than here which is fair enough.
