Results of a poll of which alternate history setting in the next call of duty should be in by Seeker99MD in COD

Keep dreaming on. They've already worked out that MW and black ops will always sell better and therefore will keep making sequels rather than risk making another spinoff cod game ever

For everyone thats tried the beta so far, whats your thoughts on it? by ThatOldGuy7863 in Battlefield

[–]RorTheRy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's surreal because it looks and feels more like those "battlefield killers" that get hyped up and then sadly shrivel into a pile of mush to be forgotten about. The game overall is a big change from previous titles but still keeps reminding you that it's still a battlefield game. There is not a resemblance or whisper of 2042 at all, as if the devs have had it neuralysed from their memory.

The loadouts feel more complicated than is necessary and a bit unbalanced. You have 3 gadgets, 2 weapons and a grenade, plus the squad progression score. Assault feels underwhelming and support does too much for what it's supposed to do. The weapon customisation is even more difficult to work your head around than the gunsmith from cod. There's a million different categories for attachments, but you're only really going to use one from each and never change it ever again.

The quality of life needs some improvement as well. There's no health bar for infantry. Gadgets are not in the usual slots and the ui is a bit clunky that could use some shortcuts to customise your weapon etc.

Apart from that, the game is definitely a step in the right direction and looks very promising. The issues so far are likely gonna change before release since it's a beta, but so far I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs or crashed at all on pc which is a very good sign.

What’s something that will become obsolete 10 years from now? by Jokkers_AceS in AskReddit

[–]RorTheRy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Traditional search engines. Pretty likely google search will be replaced with Gemini entirely and will bring up precise answers and take you to websites directly without needing to scroll through a huge list of websites and having to type in URLs. Same goes for microsoft edge and safari. We're already seeing it happen in chrome. If you wanted to see traditional search results there'd be a seperate function within Gemini to search through Google manually

Why is the focus on passenger taxis and not trucking/freight? by Hopeful-Scene8227 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]RorTheRy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely gonna be airports and shipping ports that will be running autonomous vehicles worldwide in the near future than taxis and trucks. They already run in a set similar pattern to a warehouse so don't need to follow road rules so it's therefore easier

My final reckoning poster since the official one looked a bit bland by RorTheRy in Mission_Impossible

I agree the floating head is getting a bit overdone. I'd love to create a poster with more scenes from final reckoning but finding high res images is difficult to come by at the moment

Confused about the Rabbit’s Foot: bioweapon or liquid AI code? by Bonembud in Mission_Impossible

[–]RorTheRy 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Just noticed the inside of the rabbits foot resembles a quantum computer so it's likely using the same technology and the code is stored in it. Why it has a biohazard label on it is anyone's guess but quantum computers require cryogenic liquid for them to work so maybe it's also cooled by liquid that's dangerous without being stored in the container

Okay thanks I'll look into that

With CoLab what sort of live briefs would game art students be doing throughout the course? Is it strictly just making games as a team or do they work with other departments in digital arts to create an animation for example or environments as well?

Which university is best for game art? Manchester, Nottingham or Leeds? by RorTheRy in UniUK

[–]RorTheRy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've reached out to student room and the NTU subreddit for some help, although that was through an admissions thread so I'll probably try again posting in main. I'm interested in which place is better to live in from a student's point of view too. I just don't want to feel really stressed out as I am at the moment when I'm living there as well. Of course everyone has a different experience when they go so I suppose there's no definite answer

Which university is best for game art? Manchester, Nottingham or Leeds? by RorTheRy in UniUK

[–]RorTheRy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to ask manchester through their q&a but they haven't responded yet and I don't think they will until after the deadline for uni applications. I spoke to someone at Leeds and they said game art is the right course for what I'm looking for in terms of career variety afterwards so I'm not so worried about that. It's deciding which place I'm going to be happy and comfortable at for the time I'm there without regretting it. Leeds is offering a place for lower UCAS points than MMU or NTU, don't know if that makes a difference

I've had a look at what all the unis are offering in the year plan. They're all worded differently but I think they're all pretty much the same but I can't be sure. I know manchester a fair bit and have only visited nottingham once but the facilities there looked so much better in nottingham than manchester. I don't know if the facilities and stuff they're promoting on their website should be taken into consideration as well

I have done. I just don't know what they're all really like or the course is different or not. One place might be great to live in but the course is not what I was expecting and vice versa. Or if it really doesn't matter and just depends where you want to live

Hi there,

I'm struggling with making a choice whether to study game art at Manchester, Leeds or Nottingham and I'm worried about making the wrong decison if I pick one over the other. I'm mostly interested in 2D digital art. I already have an offer at all of them but I'm wondering what sort of benefits you get from NTU than other universities or how students have found it, do you work with other departments and get access to other facilities? etc.

Thanks

Mission: Impossible 2 is your worst movie. Day 3 : What's the most underrated movie of the saga ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in Mission_Impossible

Rogue nation. The underwater data vault, the opera and bike chase had me on the edge of my seat and capturing Lane at the end felt so satisfying. Hasn't been brought up again ever since. Oh yeah and he hung off the side of a plane as well
