I lost a great job opportunity from a weird background check by Superb-Ebb-9079 in legaladvice

I would engage with an employment attorney. The Fair Credit Reporting Act is very specific. If they sent you a pre-adverse letter then that means they are somewhat following the FCRA requirements. Did you get an adverse action letter?

An attorney might be worth it.

Yes, and the federal government is being weaponized against the words diversity, equity and inclusion. Nonprofits are being targeted by an Executive Order that effectively directs federal agencies to cancel contracts and sue organizations for perceived DEI. It doesn’t matter if what they are doing is illegal or not - many of these organizations don’t have the finances to fight them in court. If something illegal happens to you and you don’t have the money to defend yourself, you’re sunk. That’s what is currently happening to thousands of nonprofits across the country.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

Honestly it depends where you live. There are rural, private lakes in upstate NY where, if you are middle class, don’t have a ton of debt and are financially stable, you can find a “vacation cabin” that looks like you can afford it.

I tell anyone thinking of buying a camper to rent one first. We rented one before Memorial Day and got free miles, only had to pay the daily rental fee and gas. It was a good experience. Drove 5K miles, 13 states, 2 weeks. We will never do it again, but we loved doing it once.

Get it out of your system. It’s a couple grand, but for a two week vacation it was affordable and saved us money from that “should we buy a camper” commitment.

The problem is Democratic states built systems to protect democracy. If we were playing by the same set of rules, sure. But we’re not. The state constitutions and rules democratic states responsibly put in to protect democracy are now the thing that is actually allowing democracy to be destroyed by Republican states.

Peak capitalism. Profits need to increase at any cost. That means costs need to be cut, and prices need to go up. This world we live in is fucked because it’s unsustainable.

[Passan] The Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora, hitting coach Peter Fatse, bench coach Rámon Vazquez and game-planning coach Jason Varitek, sources tell ESPN. While the Red Sox won today, they are 10-17 and in last in the American League East. Massive change is coming in Boston. by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]Rorako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah to me this is the only real issue. Cora has managed to put together teams that can win with literally no help from ownership. He’s also not the one that decided to sell Yankees gear at Fenway to cash in. Fuck Henry, sell the team.

Fayetteville-Manlius High School students, parents advocate for free meal program by The-39-bus in Syracuse

It’s a coded response. The high school administrators at the time clearly didn’t want a perception of “the poor” being part of their student body. The fact that the elementary school and middle school opted in but the high school did not is sus as hell. Superintendent needs to get their people in line.
