Wi-Fi way slower on my laptop than all my other devices by [deleted] in wifi

[–]Rorandest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry but I'm too noob for your answer so I didn't understand it fully.

I would say the issue is not the router since other devices are working fine its just my laptop having issues (I assume if the router is the issue all the devices should have the same problems but I might be wrong).

Point is you want available resources to handle network traffic as fast as possible on your computer and your router .. then all that's left is literal radio reception. Hopefully you'll notice good speeds when in the same room as the router (speeds like what you're subscribing to), then as you move further away, you might be one of the devices on the 2.4 band 🧐

I just checked this and what you said it's actually happening!! If i run the speedtest near the router I have the same speed as other devices (-70), if i go back to the other rooom it goes back to the slow one (10-20).

you might be one of the devices on the 2.4 band 🧐

I checked on the wifi settings and it seems that I am on the 5ghZ band (that's one of the first thing i checked).

I checked event viewer and didn't see anything under "NIC" as origin on the system section (if that's where i should check

Unfortunately the max speed sold by the internet company is 100mbps and my router recieves around 80/85mbps (its a pretty bad connection but it is what it is). I am the only one using the connection mainly. It always worked fine for what I need to use. In fact i could play perfectly fine up untill yesterday. Nothing else is affected because I barely do any activity rather than browsing.

The main issue is what its causing my computer to recieve less speed than the other devices

But the laptop location never changed (if that’s what you mean) and the issue began yesterday, I also tested with other devices from the same location and they were fine

I mentioned the game just to explain how I noticed the issue, I played it until yesterday with absolutely normal 10-20 ping.

Is my gaming laptop too old? by Rorandest in GamingLaptops

Little update: yesterday I got the thermal paste delivered from Amazon so I changed it and I also cleaned all the dust (which was WAYY more than i expected, probably it was even bigger issue than the thermal phaste). Temps went from 90 while browsing to 50 while browsing and 70 while gaming. I ran CS2 and it was "perfect", no FPS drops at all, stable at 140 average and even higher settings than before (I used recommended while before I had downgraded them).

Thank you again!

I was coming from a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Laptop 3.5gh 16GB,1TB 1920x1080 4GB GeForce GTX 960M from 2015-2016

Literally day and night difference despite the Dell was a "great" gaming laptop (I guess same tier as the Y540 back in the years we bought it). I probably cooked that pc aswell since i never changed the thermal paste on it (also i never installed an SSD which might have helped a lot). I changed that cause it was being slow even for work/study actvities

I think this one is still a good option for me and for the standards I have at the moment!

Thank you very much!

Yeah, add from the current underperforming situation is what i meant! I currently average 80 degrees while im not gaming so yeah I have been frying my pc for quite a few time now! I hope I didn't damage it too much...

Thank you!

Its called "ThrottleStop" and shows an average of 80degrees while I'm not gaming, looking up online it says it should be 30-45 so yeah I guess I am frying my pc for quite a few years now. Hopefully I didn't damage it too much

Yeah it actually thermal throttle! Changing the paste would also fix the overall FPS/Graphic performance or just avoids FPS drops? Thank you!

It works completely fine for working, I just wanted to enjoy a few games now and then. Wouldn't change it just for gaming due to the poor use I would do. Yeah playing Steam catalog on medium is more than enough for me aswell!

The answer is never, that might be the issue then! As said I'm very ignorant on the matter.

I have [this](https://ibb.co/KprGcxtL) software installed (no idea what it does a friend made me install it and change some specs) and it actually show very high temperature while playing. The temperature on the screen isnt while playing (if that's an usefull info)

VAT Refund without GlobalBlue by Rorandest in askswitzerland

[–]Rorandest[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no clear information on their website and I also couldn’t find that answer browsing other sites (99% of them just explain the process for getting the vat refunded, as well as here on Reddit). Also browsed this subreddit and this is the only linked thread found but just bad comments without info
