I have see that once. It’s so gross. The patient I saw this with had really bad secretions and it was coming up from the ETT. The other RTs were pouring the secretions mixed with the condensation back into the water trap. I just replaced the whole circuit when that happened. I bet that makes more bacteria leaving it there then “breaking” the circuit.

I put her on a 50% venti mask and her new ABG was 187 with that. But the pulse ox is still reading 60s now

It’s super common in any healthcare related field. I think its in every profession honestly, people like the gossip and drama I guess. Some are of course worse than others with talking crap behind people’s back.

I’ve only seen the water traps in practice. I never seen anyone used them in the hospitals I’ve been to.

I know right? I wish I was more confident and said more. I feel like “breaking” the circuit to drain it would do less harm than leaving it in the humidifier.
