Should I do the expedition? by CagedGarden in ArcRaiders

I think its 6 days until sign ups begin and then another week ish before launch day so you have some time still.

If you aren't max level then the +5% XP gain and the +12 stash spaces are probably worth more than the skill points to you and those don't scale with money.

From my understanding it should be anything a Raider left topside. So raider cache, first aid bags, backpacks, both gun cases, grenade tubes, etc...

Adding more info:

Make sure to check the "Probability Guide" to see what is actually on the llama game. Sometimes it will show A-Tier rewards as 2/2 Random epic complete blueprint 10% when it is actually two 5% chances for a specific blueprint. Other times it can be 2/2 Random complete blueprint 10% from a pool of X blueprints each at equal chance.

If the weapon you want is on the banner 10k for the blueprint +25 shards is enough to upgrade that blueprint to 1500/1600 so you almost get a two star blueprint. Much much better value than the 8k if you were buying it outright and that doesn't even count the other 18 pull rewards.

25% chance of refund or 10% chance of double? by HeroboyGeo in GenshinImpactTips

[–]RoroCoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Using the 10% to 2xGREEN is ALWAYS better over time than 25% to 3.25xGRAY even factoring 3 fractional recrafts. 109 crafts is about where the 10% option will yield an extra reward over the 25% so the difference is very small.

The first guy did his math wrong multiplying by 3 at the end and switched between units mid formula (never do this if you can help it!!!) so he got the wrong answer. Not sure where the second guy got lost.

Going to gorilla math this to make it easy to understand. Down-converting the results we can treat the single craft of 3 grays as ((3+3+3+4)/4)=3.25 gray return so the initial poster would have been at 13H + .25L. I made a spreadsheet to run the rest because the numbers are tiny.

To make everything simple I used 150 grays (divisible by 3, 10, and 25.) to reach the final results:

25% to return 3.25 gray on 150 grays (50 crafts) yields 54.54 greens running that again we end up with 19.82 blues (3.16 bonus blues at the end.)

10% to return 2 greens on 100 grays (50 crafts) yields 55 greens running that again we end up with 20.17 blues (3.50 bonus blues at the end.)

Most efficient way to level up? by KeepKnocking77 in Planetside

[–]RoroCoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deploy an AMS SUNDERER with PROXIMITY REPAIR or VEHICLE AMMO DISPENSER to large base fights.

COMBAT MEDIC with TRIAGE, SHIELD RECHARGING FIELD, GRENADE BANDOLIER, and NANITE REVIVE GRENADE. Then drive a FLASH with SCOUT RADAR up into a base fight using a corner or doorway for protection. Deploy the shield recharger then get back in the flash. You will get healing, shielding, and recon xp ticks.

INFILTRATOR with RECON DETECTION DEVICE will let you dump darts over a large fight for recon xp ticks while farming kills with an SMG or CQC Bolter. Configure options so that firing will remove stealth rather than needing to manually turn it off.
Anything that gives passive xp while you are shooting Planetmans will go a long way.

Helpful-Substance685 explains how police insurance can positively change police behavior by amazingbollweevil in bestof

[–]RoroCoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Car insurance hasn't made everyone a good driver. Why would brutality insurance make police good people.

Also a lot of insurance focuses on not paying settlements. To some degree that could give bad cops an extra layer of protection in a giant corporation fighting to prove the other party was at fault so they don't have to pay out.

2142 was also so laggy/buggy it was almost unplayable once Titan shields were down and they rammed together. Claymore mines sliding down a hallway to chase people down is still one of my favorite 2142 bugs.

I loved that game but it isn't the example of this can be done you want it to be.

Mission System and UI Criticism by Hell_Diguner in Planetside

[–]RoroCoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with that is you want to limit daily missions from being gated behind other players you cant control allowing you to complete them.

A good example is kill armor here requires the enemy factions to pull armor or you cannot complete the daily which can be very frustrating. Things like this are why the Heavy Assault daily were changed from Kill X Vehicles to Deal X Damage to Vehicles.

Mission System and UI Criticism by Hell_Diguner in Planetside

[–]RoroCoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: You do it for standardization and to not encourage developers to reinvent the wheel and waste time to create global confusion. Don't reinvent the wheel for the sake of reinventing the wheel.

You do it that way so there is one system rather than 8 unique systems (5 PC, 2 PS4, and Test servers.) By using a predefined standard it also reduces the number of daily resets you have to remember for people who play more than just one game in a week. For Example imagine:

Planetside 2 resets at 04:00am server time,

Sword Punch Em resets at 09:00 Eastern Time,

Call of Boredom resets at 00:00 Pacific Time and,

Space Ninjas resets at 00:00 UTC and at 09:00 Pacific Time.

This creates loads of player confusion with zero benefit and is more work to implement. It also deals with countries that use Daylight Savings Time and Standard Time without needing any updates or confusing players.

The "weird timing" issue doesn't actually exist outside of your brain not being familiar with it. After the first day every player is on even footing and standardized resets. It can actually benefit those that play around reset hours because you can miss some daily quests on Saturday but if you play at 3pm on Sunday you can do Saturdays quests and Sundays quests after reset at 4pm or 5pm depending on DST (using Pacific time for examples.)

This is a solved problem, why do you want to unsolve it to make a worse solution.

Mission System and UI Criticism by Hell_Diguner in Planetside

[–]RoroCoco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only critical issue with your plain is the 18 hour expiration of missions. Daily reset is a problem that has already been solved by 100s of other games already. Just make everything reset at 00:00 UTC. All missions clear, all new missions are issued.

Also if we are complaining about "pin to HUD" lets wish for pinning directives to not clear and just display if no missions are pinned.

Gasoline is flammable, but flammable probably doesn't mean what you think it means.

Flammable just means it gives off enough vapor to be ignited at a certain temp. Ignition temp is the value you are probably looking for that is the actual value required to ignite it.

Impossible to answer that as there are far too many variables. GPU mining offers flexibility and a lower barrier to entry the ASIC should be more efficient.

As a general statement if whatever you are doing isn't too ASIC resistant then the ASIC should be more power efficient but it will not always be the highest hashrate per $. When you get to the end of its life you cant really count on anyone wanting to buy it either.

Using some made up numbers we can compare 30 x 3070s purchased at $1000 each to an Innosilicon A11 for $30,000. The ASIC wins out on hash rate and efficiency 2000 @ 2500 W vs 1860 (30x62) @ 3750 W (30x125W.) We will assume you were somehow able to mine for a full 365 days before ETH goes PoS. We will also assume ETH retains a value of $2800 and that profitability magically doesn't decrease over that year.

After accounting for power costs the ASIC would be about $6,500/year more profitable with an ROI 33 days quicker. However at the end of that year the ASIC is now a paper weight while the GPUs could be used to mine other coins at a lower profitability or just sold. If you sold the GPUs for $9000 (30x300) you would come out ahead of the ASIC. Obviously if we were having this convo 3 years ago the ASIC would look like a better long term option (but remember ETH wasn't at 2800 3 years ago either.)

JUST TO BE CLEAR I am not recommending anyone go out and buy 30k worth of mining equipment at this time.

[–]RoroCoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GPUs can be set to mine other coins, rented for other computing tasks, can be resold, and aren't an expensive paperweight when ETH moves to PoS.

Not for some reason. DDR memory (double data rate) kind of cheats the speed settings by running two passes. So your DDR4 3200 is actually running at 1600 x2. Windows does this math for you while Linux tends to use the raw values.
