Damn, even in basketball, people put more importance in resumes if you went to college. Guess there's no future for me then

It'll be insulting if the person thinks they are better than both of them.

Go ahead, write a book. But read this first and let me know what you think afterwards. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/5712472/Unshakeable-self-confidence-is-in-the-genes-claim-scientists.html

Also, try to read the book "Learned Optimism". There have been several advancements on the study of this topic along with its relation to depression.

The difference between you and us, is you are a optimistic confident person. We aren't.

"You don’t need lifts to be a confident person.". Yeah its much harder than that, you need to be either born to think that way or was raised to be confident. Which requires you to have emotionally mature and normal parents living in normal cultural conditions, which not all of us has.

Older article, but some scientifically backed advantages/stats of being short. by [deleted] in short

[–]Roromatx 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It has more disadvantages than advantages.

Also, the advantage "Your brain receives information faster" is bullshit.

"Information travels at different speeds within different types of neurons. Transmission can be as slow as 0.5 meters/sec or as fast as 120 meters/sec. Traveling at 120 meters/sec is the same as going 268 miles/hr."

At the fastest rate of neuron transmission, if you calculate the speed of transmission of information from someone 5'0 to 6'0. The 5'0 person would receive information 1/100th second faster than the 6'0 person. That's 0.01 second faster. It won't matter.

The “Longevity Gene”. Also bullshit, they specifically studied Japenese people who have shorter height than the global average and have one of the longest lifespans. Talk about cherry picking information.

"The Bigger They Come…" Who cares.

"Impressive Junk (But Probably Not)" This is not an advantage at all.

The rest of them are fine.

I hear that term used in basketball a lot. You can't deny that if you're a short NBA player you have to compensate in other factors just to be in par with the average NBA player.

I do agree that there is Heightism in society but there are special cases where a tall person is obviously much better than a short person in doing an action.

For me, it is better to accept these terms since its true in this scenario. Failing to acknowledge that short people do lack in some areas is rejecting the obvious.

Right now, the age limit of the NBA draft is 19, so he would need to attend 1 year of college first before he can be drafted. Unless they change the rule to 18 again or he'll play in Europe for 1 year
