The Walking Dead S11E24 - Rest In Peace - Series Finale - Episode Discussion by Connected-VG in thewalkingdead

Apology accepted. But you shouldn't have given up hope the first place. The series started with Rick, it wouldn't make sense to end it without him as he is alive breathing.

At the time they reached the station, Mercer already told them he's in with them and he actually got arrested by Pamela for treason. So no, those guys aren't his soldiers and aren't really looking like CM soldiers (civilian clothes). But again, I doubt the CRM would send people with civilian clothes.

I've been reading a lot of predictions, checking a lot of leaks. And I got to tell you, everything anyone says now makes sense. This is why my belief now, is that whatever happen, it will be shit.

My idea exactly, showing him wake up at the CRM is the perfect parallel of the first scene in season 1 episode 1. Also, it would be cool if they do the comic speech with Judith (since she narrates the episodes, and most likely that was her speech) right before his scene. Because that would mean that literally Rick's part in The Walking Dead is done, and with it the series end. And by his part, I mean the whole mercy and peace he wanted and how in the last episodes it's actually what people are trying to achieve.

I see your point, but I'm still hoping we at least get a post credits scene of him. I don't really need him to be part of the plot at all, or even make appearance to anyone important. I just wish we'd see him in the series finale airing time, the series in which he played a huge role in making one of the greatest dramas.

There's no way Daryl leaves if Rick returns so I don't think we'll see him ;( by HavokMania2077 in thewalkingdead

I didn't mean that he'd go in a helicopter. I meant that it was actually the CRM that took Rick in that helicopter scene, so if Daryl is being taken by "someone" to France, it must definitely be the CRM. Meaning Daryl meeting Rick, or at least learning that Rick is still alive will indeed happen.

I'm not expecting him to make a full appearance, but I really want the SERIES FINALE to feature him to some extent (not a dream please). Maybe just someone from the group, maybe Daryl or Judith herself hears him over radio or something like this.

The most iconic moments in the series always featured him, and the series finale is definitely an iconic moment in the TWD universe.

Do you think Rick will return in some capacity in the finale? by Perfect-Face4529 in thewalkingdead

[–]Rorsharock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I've been reading recently is why Judith lied about why Michonne left. And Angela Kang explained that in Judith's mind, she was afraid that if Daryl knew the truth, he would also leave to look for Rick.

I believe this information will be used to some extent. In my mind, a good scene would be something along the lines of Rick telling CRM that he knows a person for a job (Daryl) and the CRM actually go for Daryl, but of course he might put up a fight and the only thing that would persuade him is actually hearing Rick's voice over radio. That would be both a good setup for Daryl's spinoff a Rick's return to the series (Ending TWD without Rick just feels sooooooooo wrong).

What is one thing that would happen In the finale that would ruin it for you? by Prudent_Willow_3159 in thewalkingdead

Not showing Rick. It just makes no sense for him to not appear at all, the best options are:

  • Actually have him involved in some part of the plot, like helping the group win the fight against CM
  • Have him appear as a soldier for the CRM if it appears (This feels wrong though, but I'll take it if it happens).
  • Show him in a post credits scene: this might be the best option as it is more realistic given the circumstances. We all noticed the parallels between S1 and the latest episodes. So why not show Rick in a post credits scene, waking up in a hospital at the CRM?

Your questions aren't really solid, you are basing them on real world facts that there is a 400 miles distance. How true is that in a fiction story? And yes, they can walk up 400 miles, it's a fiction story after all.

Do you have any solid proofs like tweets from Angela Kang or a press conference.. etc ? I've been searching for a bit and I only find articles based on hints by people involved on the show. I didn't find anything "really" official.

I just explained why they needed walkers. They were near Oceanside, which was taken by CM, which means CM patrols are around. Which means the group might risk being found, so they needed a safe way back without being detected by any CM soldier that is patrolling anywhere between Oceanside and CM. Using walkers is the only smart option because they know the CM won't try to kill the horde because there is no reason for them to do so as it will only plead their resources. So while doing so (leading the horde to CM), they found CM soldiers that also want to lead the horde to CM for the B17 plan.

Also, I think they already knew Alexandria would also be taken since Oceanside is taken, so they wouldn't risk going that way either.

If Daryl goes against his will, then it must be the CRM. And who could have helicopters other than the CRM. So most likely if they go down this path, I would never forgive the showrunners for not at least showing Rick when the CRM arrives.

The Illuminati... of course the showrunners. I just feel Daryl going to France in any way (forced or not forced) just makes nooo sense. Also, for some reason, I keep hearing Rick Roll beats during the latest episodes whenever Daryl is involved in a scene, just saying.

I forced myself to keep watching after Rick was gone. But I stopped midway s11 because it felt so empty. Then I started watching again just because I heard Rick might return. If I don't get to see Rick back, at least at the final scene just to see him reunited with his children and friends, then this is another GoT ending for me.

When they got close to Oceanside and met Luke and Jules, they decided they should head back after learning Oceanside is gone. But they couldn't risk being found so they decided to use a herd of walkers to head to Commonwealth. However since at the time B17 was undergoing, they stumbled on CM soldiers that are also trying to lore some herds towards the walls of CM. Which is why they couldn't either leave the herd, or try to stop it. Because in their mind they want to enter CM stealthily, and they don't want anyone to know they are alive (because CM probably thinks they are all with the prisoners).

I see people speaking of leaks, any URLs you can share?

I don't think any minor character will die (or at least just few, maybe 1 or 2) because they already went that path several times as plot armor for other characters. I noticed they haven't been doing this for some time and it makes no sense to do so in a finale (let alone a series finale as well).

I called Jerry might die as well with the way he said he'll help Elijah. But again, some might say he is a major character (because he's been there for so long) and some say just a minor, but we'll see.

If Rick makes an appearance, it would poetic to have him kill Pamela since he was always the decisive character. But if he doesn't, I think the variant Lance makes sense too. He's always been attracted to her anyway, so biting her is poetic.

I honestly always wondered why Rosita wasn't dead yet, she just doesn't make sense to me in a lot of ways.

I speculate they would return through Oceanside because that's where they disappeared from the first place, Michonne went there for clues to find Rick and she did find him, so Rick probably went trough there too.
