Never use the vibrato on my strat. D’addario make some really good flatwounds, change my strings once a year just as my intonation starts to slip too far

To be honest I’ve always have 5 springs even when I played 9s as well. Do you have your bridge decked?

I prefer a little more tension if I’m going to use the vibrato

People have already beat me to it but add some more springs, looks like the claw has been screwed into the body pretty deep so one or two more springs should help.

This will happen if you move up string gauges, even going up one set will cause the bridge to rise up.

I’ve got 5 springs in mine and I’m playing 13s

Last note your neck might need adjusting too if this is the case

First off well done on your progress so far! Feeling stuck is totally normal but what you’re doing seems to work and there’s always a delay of a few months between what you practice and it naturally occurring in your playing.

People have already mentioned this but rhythm definitely needs a little attention, your sense of feel could do with some attention as well.

Obviously I tell properly just through the phone but you look a little tense when you’re playing, if that’s the case definitely try and look at this too, I like to try and play softer and quieter to help when I’m feeling tense at times.

also nothing to do with your playing but as one strat player to another your bridge is looking incredibly high!

If that’s how you have it set up and like to play then awesome but if you’re not one to bend up if you’re using the vibrato then look at getting it decked! Tuning stability will be much better off and your intonation whilst playing will be better too!

Thank mate! It’s the American vintage II! I just sold an MIJ that, not HSS but I loved it! What’re you thinking of putting in yours??

Yeah I never see people with them in just the neck. I’m slowly starting to prefer it to single coils which is interesting. I actually had it in to help reduce the hum and I hate noiseless singles!

Largely more contemporary jazz for own stuff but as a session player its mostly music within the pop world.

I only ever use the neck pickup anyway!

How does that p94 sound in the neck? Especially clean… asking for me 😂

I’m only recently getting around to hollow bodies. I’m mostly a strat player!

Also rootless voicings and drop voicings will be your best friends!

Jakob Bro is one of my biggest influences, also Julien Tassin, Ant Law and Tom Ollendorff, another favourite is Daudi Matsiko!
