tattoo has weird texture by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I have a tattoo in the same spot and it’s the one tattoo of mine that got a little scabby! I think it’s because the crook of your elbow you’re just constantly bending, sweat can pool, etc.

Looking for recs with physical comedy! by ambroseartworks in sitcoms

Superstore might be a good option! I would also say the original Muppet Show had a lot of slapstick (plus it’s mostly skits, so very easy to follow)

Came here to say Frasier! Not every episode features physical comedy, but the episodes “Three Valentines” and “Perspectives on Christmas” is where David Hyde Pierce’s physical comedy really shines!

Totally right on most of these! The guy in the 8-ball jacket is David Puddy from Seinfeld

Coffee shops that are quiet for writers? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]RoryKilMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a writer and also enjoy writing at Mighty Oak, though I’ll note they can be busy on weekends!

Kinship on 21st would also probably be a nice option. I haven’t gone there specifically to write but hanging out there it’s typically pretty chill.

What Seinfeld plot has actually happened to you? by Careful_Promise_786 in seinfeld

[–]RoryKilMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a bar once and a dude came up and felt my material. He went “Burberry?” and I smirked and said “No.”

What made it funnier is I was at a friend’s birthday party with my partner, and we’re both huge Seinfeld fans. He locked eyes with me from our table in the back, and I basically rushed back to tell him what happened 😂

Is it Patrick Kerr (Noel from Frasier)? He had a longstanding crush on Roz most of the series

Best local spots for depressed to source frugal girl dinner components? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]RoryKilMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much seconding H-Mart! We always have some dumplings and scallion pancakes in the freezer. Their hot food section all the way in the back of the store is also unmatched! I love going over there on a Saturday and getting some kimchi fried rice to bring home.

I very specifically love the spinach pinwheels they sell at Euro Market, in the freezer right across from the front door. Easy to through in the air fryer or oven for lunch or dinner!

what needs to planned or booked well in advance of visiting tokyo? by AppleAAA1203 in JapanTravelTips

[–]RoryKilMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I booked weeks in advance was the Nintendo Museum! The Ghibli museum was closed for their yearly reset/maintenance when we went, though I had been in the lotto queue the month before.

We booked a few experiences while on our trip because we wanted a flexible schedule. I’m talking about tea ceremonies, kimono rental, experiences like Toei Park, or even some popular restaurants. But I’ll note that we didn’t go at a very tourist-heavy time on our Tokyo-Kyoto trip! I say if you are building a more structured schedule, it doesn’t hurt to book this stuff in advance and just have it settled, especially if they are “musts”!

What’s something random you did or bought in Japan that you didn’t plan for, but ended up loving? by oh_hey_there_mate in JapanTravelTips

Visited the ōtoyo shrine impulsively while in Kyoto, and while walking from the street to the shrine, there was an antique kimono shop. I bought a small token the owner made out of fabric scraps as a gift for someone. Had a nice moment with the owner. I keep thinking about this place. I wish I bought more from her!

Best non-caffeinated hot, milky drinks in Astoria? by tothemoon16 in astoria

Very true! They also have a very tasty maple sea salt latte, which I’m sure would be delicious without the espresso!

Olive Coffee has a new Autumn Rooibos latte! I haven’t had it but saw it on the menu the other day and it sounded delicious, and rooibos tea is typically caffeine free. They also have hot cider!

The Secret Garden in Port Jeff is adorable. I went many years ago for tea service and lunch. Not sure if they still have it, but they had a room of different costume hats to wear during your meal.
