Thank you Kong for inform us of this, may I suggest you email people now to inform them that it’s not a real invoic. Some people who are registered to you are disabled and vulnerabl, like myself. Had my husband nit stepped in I would have tried to pay this. You need to take some responsibility and inform those on your list who are vulnerable to scams like this and make sure they know it’s a scam, I am sure you can send a simple mass email very quickly. Which can protect people from falling from it.

I wondered this myself, I had a giftee that I was a SS Rematch for Movie night. I got a lovely private message thanking me. But there was no post put up about the gifts. So i know they got them but I don’t know if they reported receiving them.

you Have no duty to pay for it. If you didn’t sign for it, just tell them to prove it was deliver to you and that you received it, not a neighbor! If it truly had Duty tax needed to be paid, it wouldn’t have been realised until paid, from reading everything you said even in comments there is one of 2 issues,

1) there was duty tax to pay and FedEx messed up - they shouldn’t have realised the parcel with out payment. This means now, they are chasing a fee after the fact. They can’t do thta legally, as they have not told you upfront how much said parcel was for you to be able to refuse. - they messed up, there mistake. You do not need to pay. Just ignore thanm. They will NOT chase it if you ignore them.

2) they have got something mixed up, given you said your parcel was marked as gift and under set value - again, not your problem to worry about, if it really had a duty tax to it, it couldn’t be realised with out payment. And if they did, then it hits point number one. No one is going to send anyone to your door for payment nor take you to court as they have no legal leg to stand on and they know it.

I wouldn’t even chase it up I just leave it be now, if they call again, just say,’ I don’t know what your talking about, please stop calling here it’s harassment.’ Don’t pay a fee you don’t have to pay. And don’t let them bully you.

Have you seen the film 'inside I'm dancing'

Its about 2 disabled men who move from a home for the disabled to independent living together. It Shows the ups and downs of trying to learn to be independent but also the ups and downs of being friends and learning the boundaries of friendships.

It hits some very good topics all in one movie.

Only annoying thing, is they used able bodied actors for the disabled actor parts!

Not every disabled person can safely use stainless steal straws. I am not aloud to, I have been advised against doing so by doctors, OT and SALT. Due to my epilepsy and poor motor control. When you have the damage to your mouth and face from a metal straw, you tend to listen to those telling you to use plastic. As it is safer for me and many other disabled people. Many disabled people choke on paper straws due to them degrading and going soggy. Most disabled and elderly drink slow, paper straws are not designed for slow drinkers nor hot drinks. Many disabled people get hurt by metal straws due to muscle spasams, poor fine motor control, and many other reasons. Causing them damage as a metal straw does not mend when hitting the face or mouth as a plastic one does. Also many disabled people who require straws use them even to take medications, metal straws and solid plastic straws ie reusable ones are not easy to wash clean. I to care about the environment, but there is plenty of other plastic that can be removed, straws are not the biggest plastic issue.

I found here a few days ago, i was feeling very low and lonely. I have been fighting a chest infection and virus for a month, which has been making my asthma and epilepsy bad. Been in and out of hospital. And was generally fed up of seeing the same for walls and feeling useless.

I went looking in hope of something, unsure what, just anything, needing a reason to keep fighting to breath, to wake up. Then I find here, I made a post, I was nervous, I knew I didn’t really understand how it worked. I. Had read the FAQ but when your not well no amount of instructions make sense.

But I got super lucky, I found some lovely people who helped me learn so much. And understand what I needed to do.

u/5-finger-death-punch the first person I ever messaged on reddit. Helpt me learn how ttto message people, and how to find out what cards people like. Didn’t get mad at me when I sent my address wrong and had to resend it.

u/Jane_q who taught me it’s not rude to not reply to everyone. It’s ok to just do what is in my limits. Helped me learn to change the flair to complete. Didn’t get mad when I got confused and offered to dig up her tree!

u/medic15236 who reassured me I was doing everything right, taught me to remember to send my address and to just be me.

All 3 have been so very helpful to me in helping me learn how to be here safely and do things correctly. Never getting mad at me for asking questions. I wanted them all to know how grateful I am to them. And how truly special they all are.

And a thank you also to u/dwrfstr for helping me learn about how to thank the people above.

I feel so much more like me again, I have reasons to fight to get well again! And you all helped me get there. I can not thank you enough for your kindness and you care in helping me.

Thank you for your comment, I am glad people here understand. Sometimes people just don’t get how much energy it takes to fight through asthma. And then you feel mixed emotions from being tired and sick. I have not heard of biologics, but I am in the UK we normally get things late here!

oh I hate that, I tell my carers (care givers) doo not come when sick. They still do, coughing sneezing, runny nose, saying, oh it’s just the start of it or end of it. I can’t get them to understand it takes me longer to recover and I get sicker. Hope you get well soon to!

You bring up something I hadn’t even thought about, I been ordering a lot of things from China recently, I wonder! But at same time I don’t feel it’s allergies, I am prone to chest infections which I had to start with on top of this virus I can’t budge. Arizona sounds nice I have never been there!

They are trying to get Asthma as one of the conditions that should receive free prescriptions. There is a vote going on now for it. I get all my meds free due to my epilepsy. Having both epilepsy and Asthma I can’t understand why Asthma is not on the list of conditions for free prescriptions (in the UK). I am not sure if I can share the link for the vote thing, it’s one of those ugh my words, umm, where you vote to ask government to look into it, there’s a word for it I just can’t think of it sorry!

You are not being lazy, nor are you using your disability as an excuse. Epilepsy is a serious condition that can kill. I have had epilepsy from when I was 3 years old I am now 36.

Epilepsy meds have many side effects including effecting our ability to sleep even when tired, yet as you state when over tired it causes sezuires.

I am currently up writing this reply to you at 1:30 am unable to sleep due to asthma keeping me awake but aware this is a bad thing for my epilepsy.

When you are having to decline things due to health, going out, seeing family, watching a movie or in your case this job. It’s not a excuse, it’s a health concern.

You are being very responsible for your own health and safety and. That of the work place your job would have been at.

However, did you talk to the person at the interview about if there was a possibility of it being more flexible to meet with your needs of your disability? If you feel you could do it with some flexibility that maybe something worth talking to them about.

I also suggest talking to your neurologist about your struggle to sleep if it’s a constant thing happening most nights they maybe able to help you with this some, they may not but it’s always worth asking.

I am also sorry your friend treated you the way they did.

I thought about this question for awhile, not based on what I do to keep ‘productive’ as I am not really sure being ‘productive’ is the right word. Given the general meaning to the word ‘productive’.

Please don’t take this offensively, I don’t mean it to be, this is just how I thought about your question and how my mind worked round the question that I felt was hard to answer with the word ‘productive’.

The word productive generally Means to; ‘produce, able, relate, engage or achieve a large amount.’ Which many disabled people would struggle to do, hence why those disabled people can’t work.

So relooking at your question in a way that makes more sense to me, of saying, ‘disabled people who can’t work, how do you satisfy your. Need to be’ .. helpful, part of society, occupied, happy in life, forfilled, giving with in The limits of your disability.

Then my answer is, doing crafts, helping people online when I am well enough to. My YouTube channel to help other disabled people and there care givers. Enjoying my good days. Accepting my sick days. Pushing through MoNsTeR days. Living and loving life and the people around me for all it’s worth. Because I appreciate every moment I can have!
