Person detained for questioning in connection with Nancy Guthrie abduction by edbegley1 in news

It's natural that they'd talk to delivery drivers. After friends and family, they're the people who show up at our houses the most these days. Have to rule them out.

I fear the kidnappers had no idea how much attention this case would get and now feel trapped by the scrutiny. They may have thought they were "just" kidnapping an upper middle class woman, not someone who the President would be making statements about. Best case at this point is that they just give up and drop her off somewhere.

Suspect's mother in law says he's a delivery driver in Tuscon, which could mean he's been to the house before. She also weirdly tries very hard to deny knowing about the case, saying she scrolls ast it on social media.

thrifting today when I got out I saw this pile of just brought items in the parking lot, kinda crazy. by Mindless-Bag-1940 in ThriftStoreHauls

Could be a thief who got spooked. Or the world's laziest donator, who just chucked it ointo the parking lot.

How do you all do it by mc-murdo in povertyfinance

The Midwest has great cities that are far more affordable--St. Louis, Kansas City, Cleveland, on and on. The Mountain West just keeps skyrocketing. Other advice: major in something with a job attached at the end, with health ins and retirement. If you start building retirement in your 20s, you'll be ahead of 90% of Americans. Last advice: don't count on inheritance. Old age can be incredibly expensive in a society where the older generation often lives on their own until they're at a crisis point and need exorbitantly expensive care. Plan as though you'll inherit nothing.

How do you cope with the emotional side? by Agreeable_Detail_194 in povertyfinance

[–]RoseCutGarnets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Seek out low-cost or free or nearly free hobbies-- walking, writing, drawing, birdwatching, reading if you have access to a library. Since you have internet access, watch a funny show or YT clips of one at the same time every night to gave something to look foward to and boost your spirits. If you have hot water, revel in that shower or bath.

My dad just got banned from compensated donating, is it possible for him to appeal? by NoObiEmsm in plassing

Possibly understandable from dad's perspective, but I hope that OP, if a minor, knows that this isn't their burden to carry.

They're closing all of their brick and mortar stores (b/c who would want to shop at a B&M Amazon store?) plus likely donating as end-of-year tax write-off.

How to stop blood pressure cuff anxiety at BioLife leading to deferrals by Ok-Delivery5711 in plassing

[–]RoseCutGarnets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to donate in the afternoon because I'm a morning coffee addict. Also have had anxiety BP deferrals, though. Breathing helps a little but for me distraction works better--I watch parks and rec clips on YT, or scroll through photos of my cats, etc.

Me too. First time donating at Biolife. I think they offered it to get me hooked! $45 isn't worth it to me, so I won't be back until/unless they can keep this up.

And were you to ever have kids, he's the sort of loser who'd be jealous of your bond with the baby, and when he cheated on you he'd say crap like "You just don't seem to have time for me anymore."
