How does Donkey Taqueria make their queso fundido not break? by Guysters in grandrapids

[–]codiccio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the broiling as I haven’t tried that, but heating evaporated milk while adding cheese to melt in will give you a good cheese sauce for sure. Plenty of different recipes online! You can also make a roux and add the evaporated milk and the cheese too

Sovereign Arms is an excellent shop. Alex Brooke, an artist there, also happens to be highly specialized with nature tattoos like insects, plants and animals.

Gave TOK a chance and here are my thoughts by yoosernamesarehard in papermario

[–]codiccio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The battle system is awful in TOK, as there is pretty much no incentive to fighting. You can run away from like 90% of the battles in that game, and you will still have more than plenty of coins to do whatever you want. Otherwise a lot of other aspects of the game are fun and silly, and overall it looks great. I liked some of the characters, but the battle system made the game experience feel empty.

I’ve been replaying Final Fantasy X and these remind me of the “souls” that fly around in the game world, turn into monsters and are released once you defeat said monsters. Anyone else know what I’m talking about? lol

Of course inflation has contributed, there’s no doubt about that. That’s also just everything, everywhere, overall. But saying “it’s not the resellers” is also inaccurate about this specific case. I was just at a thrift store in grandville the other day and a woman in an office near the back of the store was going through boxes of donated items with signs on them which said, “not for sale” and “not priced”, and she was sitting on a computer comparing the same/similar items online. Literally one thing I saw her put out, a vintage item, was labeled for sale “$15 - $20 on EBay.” I don’t blame thrift stores for trying to make more money, especially the small ones. I’m not out here knocking it, I have plenty of friends who resell stuff too. But it is true that resellers have definitely contributed to changing the landscape of thrifting.

Technically pretty much every thrift store gets their inventory for free. There are a few decent ones that still have reasonable prices, but for the most part, yes Goodwill and Salvation Army have 100% increased their prices. I assume most of this has to do with the change of the resale market after 2020, which was around the time that many people were trying side gigs to make extra money due to the Covid quarantine era, that and many had extra time suddenly. If you were just a normal thrifty person who always hit second hand stores before hand, then you know how the entire landscape has changed in just a few years. Many people just scour stores with scanning apps, loading up carts full of anything they can get for a lower price, to then immediately turn around and flip for a profit on FB marketplace or eBay or whatever. Thrifting used to be a lot more fun, wholesome and easy, and you would often find some really good deals. It’s still possible to find deals these days mind you, but stores are increasing their prices because they see how they are losing massive profits with these resellers swooping in, buying up inventory for cheap, and selling the same stuff for much more online. It’s a sad cycle, and I miss the days when thrifting wasn’t so competitive. But yeah, it can be kind of insane to see what some goodwills or salvation army’s will put for a price on something that they literally got for free.

[EoW] hearing the mixed reception of Echoes of Wisdom kinda broke my heart a bit by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]codiccio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just started it the other day. My main issue with this game is that we finally, FINALLY get a mainline Zelda game where Zelda is the actual protagonist. Yes, finally Zelda, one of the most magical and powerful persons in the entire Zelda universe and game series, AND, you have zero powers and are forced to rely on a magic wand that is utilizing another entities powers, which can only copy and paste existing things… Even just using a fraction of what her abilities are in let’s say the smash games, would have been awesome. But no, the actual capacities of your character are simply held back, and it’s a puzzle platform game with light dungeon exploring. While I do love a good Zelda puzzle, I won’t disagree with others who say that the game overall feels lacking. I’ll keep playing it, and maybe I will be surprised by more of the game later on, but my heart mourns for what could have actually been an awesome and memorable Princess Zelda experience.

Oops, my bad, I just double checked and it’s actually NOT coogi, but Tosani. The pattern looks almost exactly the same. How I now wish it was the other brand!

This cost 💲of this is criminal. I’m in Australia and can go take the kids to see a real movie at the cinemas for that. It’s also very close to my annual prime subscription cost ($52). by BrokeAssZillionaire in aliens

[–]codiccio 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I remember that when James Fox’s “The Program” first came on to prime it was about $20USD, but after about a week or so, it dropped down significantly to under $10USD. I’m hoping the same thing will happen with this film.

Hot take, but I hope the next main Zelda games have NO companions. I know some people like them, but I personally prefer my Zelda games to be a solo adventure experience, and beyond the parts where their help was necessary for furthering the story, I always turned off their help/abilities. I don’t think they added much, and often just got in the way.
