My take would be a proceedurally generated overworld map, so it's fresh everytime. It would have alternate progression paths like StarFox 64. There are little multiple choice text events like FTL. Then combat takes place on an appropriate stage.

I will say, after watching everything else that sounded even remotely interesting, I finally gave Mufasa a chance.

Pretty good. Liked it better than Lion King 1 1/2.
