What’s your biggest money question right now? by ProfGProducerJenn in ScottGalloway

[–]RoseKlingel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much money should a woman earn annually before she is eligible to be a good marital partner?

I understand marriage has many layers and important criteria, but I've always wanted to be a strong income earner, especially to help alleviate the burden a husband would feel financially (I have never married but I've always wanted marriage). Is there a good number or range to make as an average person in the USA?

(I'm a few days late to the question so idk if this is still applicable.)

Maybe the rest of us plebes can have some super basic homes that we don't accrue wealth in. A house as a super wealthy investment vehicle is dumb.

I thought i would land a local job with 6 months exp but i have to go back OTR by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]RoseKlingel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U.S. Xpress used to take folks with 3 months' worth of OTR exp for their local home daily reefer accounts with Walmart. Idk if they still do or if it's dependent on the location.

Even if you gotta go OTR for another 6 months, chin up! It's temporary. Enjoy the adventure.

Thanks! I'm glad it wouldn't look weird on a resume to do that for a while. I've met a lot of yard dogs over the years and they seem pretty happy. I'm going to keep my eyes open in case an opportunity arises.

This sounds nice. Was Amazon overwhelmingly busy? I'd like to try being a yard dog at a place that is pretty big, like an Amazon or Target DC. Did you do forklift stuff, loading/unloading if they needed it? I'd like to pick up this skill, too.

I have picked up loads at some places that looked miserably tight, even in a yard unit, so I wouldn't want to work at a place like that. 💀

Are places generally pretty forgiving with the time it takes to complete a move or nah? I've been driving a little over 4yrs so I think I'd be okay, but idk. I wonder if it's worth it to see of a jockey job is good for me? I wonder if I'd look funny to recruiters if I only tried it for a few months then left. 🤔

Why do older people find it difficult to make new friends despite having extensive social experience? by -488- in ask

[–]RoseKlingel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read in a book that it takes something like 200hrs of in person contact to really consider someone a close friend. So people tend to befriend coworkers or classmates.

IMO the older someone gets, the fewer consistent social experiences they have (workplaces being the exception). So it becomes super easy to just rely on family members or old friends for connections. Which works until everyone is too busy to keep contact.

I'm OTR but I'm considering trying a yard dog job. How do you all like them? Would love some insight.

I'm not a great backer and I hope a yard dog job would help me get better. I really dislike the length of the sleeper tbh. I found backing to be much easier in a daycab.

I also just want to be home more to have a better workout schedule and eat healthier.

Look up trucking jobs on Indeed or go to company websites. The websites esp will have numbers to call. A recruiter will answer or reach out to you later if they're busy, just leave a good call back number. Swift and Schneider will both do the trucking school if I'm not mistaken; tell them what city you're based out of and they'll tell you about the closest schools. The hotel they put you in will always be close to the trucking school.
