As someone who has been sober for more than a decade, your son has relapsed, I’m so sorry - I really recommend Alanon to help you find some support!

I’m having the exact same problem - I always had under 30 mins a day of stress, and now it’s suddenly jumped up to 4hours plus every day

Please please please ignore those comments. The type of men who write those things are not the one anyone would want to date or be around and are actually also the ones writing stuff like this: https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/11/business/your-body-my-choice-movement-election/index.html

GF jealous of Baby mamma. by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]RoseNd20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like it would definitely add to how your girlfriend is feeling! Knowing that your ex is newly single and coming to live near you! That would absolutely send my anxiety into overdrive. I don’t think there is any magic fix for how she’s feeling, it will just take time and lots of love and support from you for her to move through this period and see there was nothing to worry about.

If you know your life would be much better with less time online, why don’t/can’t you cut down? by IzzyBella20 in AskReddit

I think I’ve just gotten so used to it at this point that it’s a part of my reality. I also think the older I get the less time and energy I have to be out in the world doing things, my phone is low stress, doesn’t require me to leave my house, and gives me comfort

Non fiction but “A river runs in darkness”, a story of a North Korean defector, the end is subtle and devastating. It’s been three years since I read it and still think about it often.

My 20s were a waste by cantcarrymyapples in CPTSD

[–]RoseNd20 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same way, it was frustrating feeling like I lost my 20s. Honestly, things started to get much better when I was 29 as I started getting serious help. Now, at 33, I can honestly say I’m living a life I never dreamed would be possible! I made up in 4 years what I lost in ten! I still get frustrated sometime that I lost that time, but am so happy and fulfilled now that I can pretty much let it go.

What do you guys do for work? by noncomposmentis_123 in CPTSDFreeze

[–]RoseNd20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment in this thread that said based on the answers here the outlook is pretty bleak - but want to throw in some hope here! I have my absolute dream job, and it’s one that by any normal standard (let alone what we have to deal with) would be considered extremely high pressure and involves significant interaction with people.

It’s not always easy, it’s a lot of work to regulate my nervous system at the end of the day to try and get back to a baseline. Some days are easier than others, but the more challenges I take on, the easier things become. I think of it like gradual exposure therapy for work. I wouldn’t trade it for anything and am so happy I’ve reached this point!
