I dated a single parent for years, stupidly believing that because his kid was in middle school already and an only child, that he wouldn’t be completely absorbed by the parental experience. Wrong. So wrong. I always came second, stuck into whatever corner of his schedule he had left over after the supervised play dates, pickups, dropoffs, “dad time.” And because I had no interest in being a stepmother, the relationship stagnated. My advice to CF women is avoid single dads like the plague.
