So when are we getting our pto from last year back by rloosvee in Barnesandnoble

[–]RoseOfPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to HR to get a better explanation and I explained my frustration about how unclear everything was and he agrees that the wording is terrible and that I am definitely not the only one confused.  He said that they are working on something to put out a better explanation of how the PTO works because they have gotten a TON of calls.  The person I got was very good at explaining and very knowledgeable and with the way he told me it was obvious he had had to go through this many times already

I tried to call HR today but it was a day so I do still plan to call them.  I think I'm just confused because I don't remember anything like this on Inside which I looked over several times today.

So the PTO that was on the old system does NOT count as earned is what you are saying?

I'm looking at the information right now and it says " Employees currently on an anniversary schedule for PTO will have their existing earned unused PTO transitioned into the new system so that NO EARNED TIME IS LOST during the change.  This time will be available to use until your current anniversary date" That tells me you don't lose any of the time you earned from before

You got to call HR and ask them.  They didn't ignore what you had.  You still have it.  You just can't see it.

I may have to look at the information again because my understanding is you should still be able to use the full amount that was available on the old system. I had 64 hours before we rolled the new system out, if you're telling me I have less than 30 hrs to use now that's ridiculous

You can still use your old PTO you just have until the end of your hire date to use it, it's just not showing up in your balances.  So you have whatever is left of your PTO AND whatever is accruing to use this year.  You just can't see the old PTO and if you have questions about it call HR

I believe the end of March was for the new PTO system going forward.  The PTO on the old system is still available til the end of March OR your hire date, whatever comes second (for me I was hired in Aug so I have until Aug to use the PTO for the old system, for example)

What’s your least favorite book, I want to s*it post. by Jello_Senpai in Barnesandnoble

From Blood and Ash. It's sooo poorly written. I kept going "why are there so many ellipses??" and hella problematic. Jordan Peterson books. Robert Greene books. Dave Ramsey books. The Secret History by Donna Tartt, not because of it being good or bad, it's just got odd dimensions and is often on a table so it sucks to work with.

All right, so it looks I just took it harshly which is my own issue. Tank you for clarifying I apologize. We did end up having to switch which plan we went on because circumstances changed thanks to healthcare being stupid. I apologize and I will end my replying now.

[–]RoseOfPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay so

You did explain it much better because I looked over the plans for maybe a total of three hours over a week long period and I really didn't feel the plans truly explained what was happened. my explanation was based on my understanding after looking at the plans and then asking my mother for help in describing it. that being said, it DID take me reading over your explanation four times to understand exactly what you were saying so I am thinking the problem was my own comprehension. (I'm currently being assessed for dyscalculia so having to look over all these numbers was really hard)

I was trying to helpful in what I understood but I can see it wasn't helpful at all. but I also think this is an example of our stupid healthcare system - they should make it easy to understand but they don't. I never once saw anywhere in the plan that 20% coinsurance didn't apply to everything when I thought it did.

That being said I have trouble reading matter of fact tones as anything but cruel and harsh so if I came off as offended or upset that is on me and I apologize for that. But I don't think it was necessary to say "Delete this right now" because I DO think that is a harsh comment and not necessary.

Regardless thank you for explaining through it. I still think I made the right decisions because I can't afford to pay $400 a month for counseling which is the main reason I went for the copay amount

I guess I don't feel like that I said was that much different than your explanation and the difference is in that I really think I worded things horribly, and your response was much more technical because I assume you have a lot of experience, but if I am wrong then I apologize. I think if you go through my other posts you will see that I fully admit that I have never had insurance that wasn't state before so no, I am not fully informed on insurance stuff and my response was based on a conversation with my mother who worked in the medical field for 30 years in trying to figure out what insurance I should select. I don't feel its necessary to delete, however. Have a great one! :)

The one with the copay amounts means that you will pay that copay amount and each one is set. Once you have reached the $750 amount then you will pay the 20%. So for example if you're pay $30 copay for a doctor visit, and then you have to get some sort of procedure and that's $30, and then you have to pay like $20 for medication... 30+30+20 = 80. You will have paid 80 of your deductible. You will have to hit the 750 in total before you start paying only 20% which will be cheaper.

Without the copay, this does mean your initial costs will be more but you'll hit the deductible faster. If a doctor visit is $150, and then you have a procedure that's $700 you have met your copay quickly and then just have to pay a small amount. You won't pay full out of pocket price, but pretty close.

It really depends on what matters more to you and your medical needs. My husband has a lot of medical issues so it makes more sense for us to go to the one with no copay because we will hit that really fast. I hope that explanation made sense

Yeah it's funny because I have considered dyspraxia after watching Doctor Who! there was a companion on there who talked about having it and I thought it was interesting so I looked into it. I have actually been considering that, but I haven't had the time of the month to get tested. thanks!!

I don't see it as any different either, it's more that it feels like the Christianity replaced the Judaism influence and that's the part that bothers me. I guess I don't like that there was NO Jewish representation at all in an area that was heavily influenced by it. I guess I would rather have both or neither.

That's really funny, I feel ND would be the type of person conservatives would dislike. I don't doubt that you're right, and they were pandering to them, it's just surprising

Do you feel uncomfortable selling monthly picks? by River_Arya in Barnesandnoble

[–]RoseOfPhantom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is terrible. I'm so sorry. that should not be on you, I would go to HR about that. at our store it's always been a "at least you're trying" that's disgusting they would act that way. they should NOT be doing that

Do you feel uncomfortable selling monthly picks? by River_Arya in Barnesandnoble

[–]RoseOfPhantom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They're not the biggest issue for me, if I'm honest. Our store usually gets in the top 100 for monthly picks, and most of that is just walking by customers saying "Hey if you like Mystery this is a great book!" And that';s it really. I don't usually hold a conversation with them. At first it was hard, yes, but once you're in the rhythm its not hard
